Sport clubs' health promotion activities for the surrounging communities : a comparative case study of Columbus Blue Jackets, HJK and Sotkamon Jymy
2014
ABSTRACT The level of physical activity continues to decrease globally. Therefore it is important to explore new ways of promoting physical activity and healthy life style. Sport clubs are an excellent setting for physical activity and health related programs targeted for the surrounding community due to their visibility, popularity and image. They offer also companies a possibility to conduct their health related corporate social responsibility activities by supporting and cooperating with the club. Despite its importance there are not many studies related to the role of sport clubs as health promoters. The aim of this research is to explore what kind of health promotion activities sport c…
Speciālo izmeklēšanas darbību aktuālie problēmjautājumi
2016
Maģistra darbs sniedz padziļinātu ieskatu speciālo izmeklēšanas darbību kā kriminālprocesuāla institūta problēmjautājumos, kuru pamatā lielākoties ir tieši teorijā un praksē nostiprinājušos atziņu dažādība. Darbs sastāv no trim galvenajām nodaļām, kurās autore apzina un analizē speciālo izmeklēšanas darbību teorētiskos un praktiskos aspektus un no to atšķirīgās normatīvā regulējuma interpretācijas izrietošos tādus aktuālos problēmjautājumus kā saistība ar operatīvās darbības pasākumiem, ar šīm darbībām saistīto procesuālo dokumentu un darbību veicēju liecību nozīme pierādīšanā, iegūtās informācijas aizsardzība u.c. Darba rezultātā autore konstatē pretrunas tiesību normu piemērošanā un ieros…
Seasonal variation in diversity of marine benthic invertebrates leads to a positive species-genetic diversity correlation (SGDC)
2018
Species-genetic diversity correlations (SGDCs) are useful indicators of processes that simultaneously affect diversity at multiple biological levels. We combined spatial and temporal sampling of 4 study sites in the Danish Isefjord-Roskilde Fjord Estuary at 4 time points over 1 yr to investigate the effect of seasonal variation on SGDCs. Species diversity was estimated as species richness from samples comprising 20752 individuals representing 51 benthic invertebrate taxa. Genetic diversity was estimated for a single focal taxon, the polychaete Pygospio elegans, as mean allelic richness at 7 microsatellite loci. Combining all samples, a significant positive correlation between species richne…
Cross validation of hard-copy and web-based formats of the Sport Imagery Ability Measure
2018
The purpose of this multi-sample study was to examine the psychometric characteristics, factor structure, and measurement invariance of the hard-copy and web-based versions of a measure of sport imagery ability, termed Sport Imagery Ability Measure (SIAM). In the first sample, Spanish athletes (N = 274, 161 men, 113 women, Mage = 21.91, SD = 6.67) completed a hard-copy version of the SIAM. A newly developed web-based version of the SIAM was cross validated in an independent group (N = 266, 147 men, 119 women, Mage = 25.93, SD = 9.84). A small group of participants (n = 16) completed both versions. Exploratory structural equation modelling and confirmatory factor analysis of the data from th…
Prevention of injuries among youth team sports : the role of decreased movement control as a risk factor
2017
Good movement control is essential in team sports that require fast-paced running, pivoting, jumping and landing. Alterations in dynamic neuromuscular control may cause significant stress on the musculoskeletal system, and increase the risk of both acute and overuse injuries. The purpose of this dissertation was to investigate the effectiveness of interventions to prevent sports injuries, the incidence and severity of overuse injuries, and the role of decreased movement control as a risk factor for future injuries in young team sports athletes. The study methods included a systematic literature review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials, a retrospective epidemiological investi…
Injury History and Perceived Knee Function as Risk Factors for Knee Injury in Youth Team-Sports Athletes
2022
Background: The identification of risk factors for sports injuries is essential before injury prevention strategies can be planned. Hypothesis: Previous acute knee injury and lower perceived knee function measured by Knee injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS) will increase the risk of acute knee injury in youth team-sports athletes. Study Design: Prospective cohort study. Level of Evidence: Level 3. Methods: At baseline, youth (≤21 years old) male and female basketball and floorball athletes completed a questionnaire on previous acute knee injuries and perceived knee function (KOOS). A total of 211 male and 183 female athletes were followed for an acute knee injury up to 3 years. U…
Pusaudžu izpratnes par fizisko aktivitāšu nozīmi veicināšanas iespējas sporta stundās
2021
Diplomdarba tēma “Pusaudžu izpratnes par fizisko aktivitāšu nozīmi veicināšanas iespējas sporta stundās”. Darba autore: Otrā līmeņa profesionālās augstākās izglītības programma “Skolotājs” studente Inese Lagzdiņa. Darba vadītāja Dr.sc.admin., Ausma Golubeva. Diplomdarbs, 38. lpp., 30 literatūras avoti, 8 pielikumi, 11 attēli . Darbs izstrādāts latviešu valodā. Darba mērķis bija noskaidrot kā sporta stundās iespējams veicināt pusaudžu izpratni par fizisko aktivitāšu nozīmi. Mērķa sasniegšanai veikta teorijas analīze par pusaudžu vecuma īpatnībām, fizisko aktivitāšu nozīmi pusaudžiem un to veicināšanas iespējām sporta stundās gan klātienes, gan attālināto mācību laikā. Empīriskā pētījuma ietv…
Applying health promoting sports club standards in the Netherlands
2014
This study explores health promotion activity of Dutch sports clubs by using the Health Promoting Sports Clubs (HPSC) standards, which are developed in Finland and here applied to the Dutch sports context. The standards consist of 23 items which cover different perspectives on health promotion. The standards form an overall HPSC index, which is used to create health promotion profiles for the sports clubs. 17 sports clubs from the municipality of ‘s-Hertogenbosch participated in this study, of which 42 club officials (1-6 per club) evaluated their own club on all HPSC standards on a five-point Likert scale. Per club, the average score on each standard was calculated. The average on the HPSC…

Auditory cortical and hippocampal-system mismatch responses to duration deviants in urethane-anesthetized rats
2013
Any change in the invariant aspects of the auditory environment is of potential importance. The human brain preattentively or automatically detects such changes. The mismatch negativity (MMN) of event-related potentials (ERPs) reflects this initial stage of auditory change detection. The origin of MMN is held to be cortical. The hippocampus is associated with a later generated P3a of ERPs reflecting involuntarily attention switches towards auditory changes that are high in magnitude. The evidence for this cortico-hippocampal dichotomy is scarce, however. To shed further light on this issue, auditory cortical and hippocampal-system (CA1, dentate gyrus, subiculum) local-field potentials were …
