Public policy as grounds for refusal of recognition and enforcement under regulation 2016/1103 and regulation 2016/1104
2021

Abstract. Size-resolved and vertical profile measurements of single particle chemical composition (sampling altitude range 50–3000 m) were conducted in July 2014 in the Canadian high Arctic during an aircraft-based measurement campaign (NETCARE 2014). We deployed the single particle laser ablation aerosol mass spectrometer ALABAMA (vacuum aerodynamic diameter range approximately 200–1000 nm) to identify different particle types and their mixing states. On the basis of the single particle analysis, we found that a significant fraction (23 %) of all analyzed particles (in total: 7412) contained trimethylamine (TMA). Two main pieces of evidence suggest that these TMA-containing particles origi…

This paper…
Natural products for the treatment of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus
2015
Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disease characterized by persistent hyperglycemia. High blood sugar can produce long-term complications such as cardiovascular and renal disorders, retinopathy, and poor blood flow. Its development can be prevented or delayed in people with impaired glucose tolerance by implementing lifestyle changes or the use of therapeutic agents. Some of these drugs have been obtained from plants or have a microbial origin, such as galegine isolated from Galega officinalis, which has a great similarity to the antidiabetic drug metformin. Picnogenol, acarbose, miglitol, and voglibose are other antidiabetic products of natural origin. This review compiles the princi…

ABSTRACTIt is important to analyze pyrolysis liquids to evaluate the yield of valuable products as well as unfavorable by-products. This work focuses on choosing detectors for reversed-phase ultra high-performance liquid chromatography analysis of pyrolysis liquids. The linearity, sensitivity, precision, and recovery of photodiode array (PDA) detector, single-quadrupole mass spectrometer (MS), and evaporative light scattering (ELS) detector were compared for the quantitative determination of several typical compounds found in pyrolysis liquids. PDA and MS detectors were found to be suitable for the quantification of furans and phenol derivatives (furfural, vanillin, syringol), but sugars an…
Notes on the karyology, genetics and ecology of Genista sect. Voglera in Sicily
2012
To investigate the biosystematic and genetic relationships among Sicilian species of Genista sect. Voglera, four populations of three species, Genista aristata C. Presl, Genista cupanii Guss., and Genista madoniensis Raimondo, have been studied. Genista madoniensis is tetraploid, with a chromosome number of 2n = 48, as are the other two species. An isozyme study showed that G. madoniensis is taxonomically closer to G. aristata than to G. cupanii, the latter possessing four unique alleles. The results are discussed in the context of the ecological characteristics of each species.

Vibrio aestivus sp. nov. and Vibrio quintilis sp. nov., related to Marisflavi and Gazogenes clades, respectively
2012
Abstract Two new Vibrio species, Vibrio aestivus and Vibrio quintilis , are described after a polyphasic characterization of strains M22 T , M61 and M62 T , isolated from seawater collected off a beach on the East coast of Spain (Valencia). All three strains are Gram negative, mesophilic, slightly halophilic, fermentative rods. V. aestivus (M22 T = CECT 7558 T = CAIM 1861 T = KCTC 23860 T and M61 = CECT 7559 = CAIM 1862 = KCTC 23861) is oxidase positive, reduces nitrates to nitrites, is negative for Voges Proskauer, arginine dihydrolase and indole and non hydrolytic on most substrates tested. The 16S rRNA gene sequences of M22 T and M61 are most similar to Vibrio marisflavi (97.1–97.2%) …
