Enhanced hybridization labeling signals in Southern blotted DNAs fractionated with voltage gradient gel electrophoresis.

1998

An enhancement of hybridization labeling signals is demonstrated in Southern blotted DNAs, fractionated by voltage gradient gel electrophoresis. This enhancement is due to a reduced thickness of each single nucleic acid band in the gel as a consequence of the gradient effect, corresponding to an increased concentration of DNA per unit area.

Application of an ectopic expression system for the selection of protein-isoform-specific antibodies. The monoclonal antibody K1 C3 is specific for t…

1993

Monoclonal antibodies were raised against a fusion protein consisting of a fragment of 141 amino acids of the C-terminal region of the rat brain voltage-gated K(+)-channel protein (RCK1) and the lambda N protein (fusion protein I). Selection of K(+)-channel-specific hybridoma cell lines was performed by means of an ELISA employing a fusion protein consisting of the K(+)-channel-specific peptide sequence and glutathione S-transferase (fusion protein II). For final selection of RCK1 isoform-specific antibodies, a panel of Xenopus oocytes was employed, each injected with cRNA coding for a specific RCK isoform (RCK 1, 2, 4 or 5). Several days after injection, cryosections of embedded oocytes we…

An electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance study of lithium insertion into thin films of tungsten trioxide II. Experimental results and compariso…

1995

Abstract Lithium insertion into amorphous thin films of tungsten trioxide (a-WO 3 ) prepared by thermal vacuum evaporation of WO 3 powder has been studied experimentally by chronoamperometry, cyclic voltammetry and ac impedance spectroscopy associated with electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance (EQCM). During cathodic polarization of the electrode and at short times two antagonistic processes occur. One is a non faradaic process and is associated with the expulsion of anions from the electrode surface under the effect of the electric field built in the electrolyte when a potential difference is imposed between the electrodes. The other one is the faradaic insertion of non-solvated lith…

The pseudostationary mercury electrode

1998

Abstract A detailed study of the pseudostationary mercury electrode is presented, based on its use in LSV. Delay times ( t 1 ) as short as 20 ms can be employed; the drop area is still given by its classical expression, and minimization of the ohmic drop allows sweep rates of a few thousands of volts per second to be used. The conditions for pseudostationarity are given; the lower sweep rates utilizable are of the order of few tenths of volt per second. Reactant adsorption is considered, and zones where rehomogenization near the electrode surface is practically either 100 or 0% are defined in a plane log t 1 /log b O ( b O is the adsorption coefficient); the diffusional or surface character…

Electrochemical performance of activated screen printed carbon electrodes for hydrogen peroxide and phenol derivatives sensing

2019

Screen-printed carbon electrodes (SPCEs) are widely used for the electroanalysis of a plethora of organic and inorganic compounds. These devices offer unique properties to address electroanalytical chemistry challenges and can successfully compete in numerous aspects with conventional carbon-based electrodes. However, heterogeneous kinetics on SPCEs surfaces is comparatively sluggish, which is why the electrochemical activation of inks is sometimes required to improve electron transfer rates and to enhance sensing performance. In this work, SPCEs were subjected to different electrochemical activation methods and the response to H2O2 electroanalysis was used as a testing probe. Changes in to…

Electrochemistry of methylene blue at an alkanethiol modified electrode

2012

International audience; Gold surfaces were derivatized with decanethiol. The electrochemistry of methylene blue at these modified electrodes was investigated in function of the gold cleaning process and compared with the results obtained at a bare gold electrode. Cyclic voltammetry at low methylene blue concentrations (c(MB) <= 16 mu M) yielded surface behavior data. The properties of the film vary with the electrode pretreatment. Without electrochemical cleaning step, the standard potential at a gold electrode modified with 1-decanethiol is nearly the same as on a bare gold electrode. On the other hand, when the electrode is electrochemically cleaned before adsorption of the alkanethiols, …

Bisferrocenyl-functionalized pseudopeptides: access to separated ionic and electronic contributions for electrochemical anion sensing

2016

Pseudopeptidic receptors containing ferrocene fragments have been prepared and their response to a series of anions was measured by a voltammetry of microparticles methodology. Such water-insoluble compounds yield anion-assisted reversible solid-state oxidations differing in their open-circuit potential and their midpeak potential recorded in cyclic voltammetric measurements. The difference between those potentials provides the individual thermodynamic contributions of electron and proton transfer, revealing that the mechanism of an ion-sensitive electrode can differ in potentiometry and voltammetry. The studied receptors are potentially interesting for potentiometric sensing, showing relat…

Electrochemical response of ferrocenium filled calix[4]arene capsules in solution and immobilized on gold

2008

Abstract Hydrogen-bonded dimers of tetra-urea calix[4]arenes are able to include ferrocenium ions as a guest. Heterodimeric capsules are exclusively formed in 1:1 mixtures of tetra-arylurea calix[4]arene 1 with tetra-tosylurea calix[4]arene 2. Sulfide groups attached via spacers on the urea rim of 1 allow their binding to metal surfaces rendering simultaneously their dissociation more difficult. Thus, the electrochemical response of encapsulated ferrocenium could be studied in a self-assembled monolayer (SAM) in addition to the solution electrochemistry with cyclic voltammetry. The stability of the electrochemically active monolayers was tested after a heat treatment (225 °C for 30 min in N…

Characterization of traditional artificial patinas on copper using the voltammetry of immobilized particles

2020

[EN] The voltammetry of immobilized particles methodology (VIMP) is used to characterize the composition of artificial patinas on copper. The voltammetric response of carbonate-, nitrate-, chloride-, sulfate-, and sulfide-based patinas is described using sub-microsamples attached to graphite electrodes in contact with aqueous acetate buffer. Patina-characteristic voltammetric profiles are obtained for the different artificial patinas that can be recognized using the generalized Tafel analysis of the voltammetric curves. VIMP data could also provide layer-by-layer information about composition and compactness/crystallinity of the patinas for which a simplified theoretical modeling is present…

Four-Level Three-Phase Inverter With Reduced Component Count for Low and Medium Voltage Applications

2021

This paper proposes a novel three-phase topology with a reduced component count for low- and medium-voltage systems. It requires three bidirectional switches and twelve unidirectional switches for producing four-level voltages without using flying capacitors or clamping diodes, reducing the size, cost, and losses. Removing flying capacitors and clamping diodes allows it to simplify control algorithms and increase the reliability, efficiency, and lifetime. A modified low-frequency modulation (LFM) scheme is developed and implemented on the proposed topology to produce a staircase voltage with four steps. Further, a level-shifted pulse width modulation (LSPWM) is used to reduce the filter siz…
