Light Soaking measurements on Ruthenium-based Dye Sensitized Solar Cells

An interesting phenomenon occurring in Dye Sensitized Solar Cells (DSSCs) when exposed to an uninterrupted period of illumination is the so-called light soaking effect, which consists in the increase of the main electrical parameters of the cell, such as the photocurrent and the efficiency. Studying such an effect has noteworthy practical implications, ranging from the optimization of the manufacturing process to stability tests of DSSCs. In this paper, we present an experimental investigation on the performance variation, due to light soaking, of Ruthenium-based DSSCs.
Density of States evaluation of Molybdenum Oxide for c-Si solar cell
Silicon-based heterojunction technology (HJT) is one of the most promising candidates for high performance and low cost solar cells with world-record efficiency close to 27% in IBC architecture. The HJT exploits the excellent passivation properties of hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a-Si:H); although, the use of doped a-Si:H has drawbacks such as parasitic absorption and low-thermal budget to cope with back-end metallization. Replacing the p-type a-Si:H with molybdenum oxide (MoOx) is a viable alternative. Optimizing this hole-selective layer is needed; however information on the defect density of states (DOS), linked to oxygen vacancies is still lacking.

Cable manufacturing industries are constantly trying to improve the electrical performance of power cables. During the years, it was found that one of the most relevant degradation factors influencing the cable lifetime is the presence of space charge in the insulation layer. To detect the accumulated charge, the pulsed electro-acoustic (PEA) method is the most used technique. Despite the wide use of the PEA cell, several issues are still present. In particular, the PEA output signal is strongly disturbed by the acoustic waves reflections within the PEA cell. Comparison of local electrochemical impedance measurements derived frombi-electrode and microcapillary techniques

Abstract In the present paper, local electrochemical impedance spectra were obtained on a 316L stainless steel from two configurations: a dual microelectrode (bi-electrode) and microcapillaries. With the bi-electrode, the local impedance measurements were made from the ratio of the applied voltage to the local current density calculated from the application of the ohm's law. Darba mērķis ir novērtēt, vai no Latvijas Universitātes Cietvielu fizikas institūta laboratorijā atsevišķi pieejamām ierīcēm ir iespējams izveidot vienotu automatizētu mērīšanas iekārtu, kas būtu lietojama fotodiožu izejas signāla spektrālās atkarības noteikšanai. Pirmajā nodaļā ir veikta literatūras analīze par pusvadītājiem. Otrajā nodaļā ir secīgi aprakstīta automatizētās mērīšanas iekārtas izveide. Trešajā nodaļā tiek analizēti iegūtie rezultāti, veikta salīdzināšana ar teorētiskajiem datiem. Standard testing of photovoltaic modules for use in renewable energy education

A photovoltaic laboratory exercise has been devised and used in the educational curriculum of the Renewable Energy Programme at the University of Jyväskylä. The purpose of the experimental tasks is to give students of renewable energy a good understanding of standard testing procedures used in industry for characterising photovoltaic modules and to provide practical skills in sizing simple photovoltaic installations. Herein the experimental set-up, basic theory and measurement procedure are described.
