Isobaric vapor-liquid equilibria and densities for the system methyl 1,1-dimethylethyl ether+2-propanol

Vapor-liquid equilibrium data at 50, 75 and 94 kPa have been determined for the binary system methyl 1,1-dimethylethyl ether + 2-propanol, in the temperature range 308-344 K. The measurements were made in an equilibrium still with circulation of both the vapor and liquid phases. Excess volumes have been also determined from density measurements using a vibrating tube densimeter at 298.15 K. The system exhibits positive deviation from ideal behavior and does not present azeotropy within the range of pressures studied. Abstract Sedimentation and diffusion coefficients determined by optical methods on pure (crystallized) enzymes are compared with those obtained by activity measurements on the unpurified enzymes. On performing the experiments under suitable conditions, results of the two methods are in good agreement. The calculation of the molecular weights of the unpurified enzymes is somewhat uncertain because the partial specific volume in most cases is not accurately known.
Orbital volume and shape in Treacher Collins syndrome

Orbito-palpebral reconstruction is a challenge in Treacher Collins syndrome (TCS). This study investigates orbital phenotypes in TCS using cephalometry and orbital shape analysis. Eighteen TCS and 52 control patients were included in this study, using the Dr Warehouse database. Orbital cephalometry was based on 20 landmarks, 10 planes, 16 angles, and 22 distances. Orbits were segmented. Registration-based, age-specific mean models were generated using semi-automatic segmentation, and aligned and compared using color-coded distance maps - mean absolute distance (MAD), Hausdorff distance (HD), and Dice similarity coefficient (DSC). Abstract Nitrogen adsorption at liquid nitrogen temperature, 77K, is universally employed to determine pore dimensions. The nature of nitrogen physisorbed within the micropores of ZSM-5 zeolite was studied by in situ15N NMR as it depends on the partial pressure of the nitrogen and the temperature above and below 77K. An increase in the volume of adsorption of nitrogen at 77K occurs at a relative pressure of ~0.18 for this zeolite. The nature of the nitrogen was studied below and above this increase in nitrogen adsorption. We find that two states (phases) of nitrogen are evident. Summary The adsorption and desorption isotherms of water vapor are drawn at 25°C for dealuminated HY zeolites upon framework Si/Al ratio. The isotherms are compared to that of the parent NaY zeolite. The isotherm changes in shape from the type I to the type IV with an hysteresis loop changing from the type H 4 to the type H 2 , as increases the Si/Al ratio. This study describes the motion pattern of the right pulmonary artery (RPA) as it can be assessed from the suprasternal echocardiogram. The motion characteristic of the RPA is dependent on hemodynamic factors within the lumen of the RPA and those within the left atrium and the aortic arch. During atrial contraction the superior wall of the left atrium separates from the inferior wall of the RPA (IWRPA) and produces an "a" dip in the wall motion of the IWRPA. The disposition of azapropazone 600 mg i.v. was investigated in 6 healthy subjects, 13 patients with cirrhosis and 8 patients with renal failure. In healthy subjects the elimination half-life was 12.2±2.1 h (mean ± SD), the volume of distribution 10.6±3.31 and the total clearance was 597±135 ml·h−1. Renal clearance accounted for about 62% of the total clearance. The free fraction of azapropazone in the plasma was 0.0045±0.0006. The patients with cirrhosis were divided into Group I with modest and Group II with severe impairment of liver function.
