First analyses on a mechanical motion converter to produce electrical energy from sea wave

The exploitation of sea wave opens new horizon for suppling small islanded communities. With this goal the paper propones a prototypical device for the utilization of sea wave along the coastline. The device is based on a mechanical motion conversion, from an alternative rotation into unidirectional rotation in order to run commercial generators. First evaluations are here reported, demonstrating the feasibility of this solution.

Personal conceptions of intelligence: Cross-cultural comparisons between Portuguese and Italian students

This article presents some results of an intercultural study on personal conceptions of intelligence. The sample includes 1,540 students, 811 Italians and 729 Portuguese, from both sexes and of different socioeconomic statuses, of secondary Grades 10 and 12 and of the 1st grade of several university courses in both countries. The instrument used was The Personal Conceptions of Intelligence Scale (Faria, 2003), with 26 items, translated and adapted to Portuguese and Italian. RESUMEN: El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo presentar una revisión teórica de las principales formas abreviadas que han sido desarrolladas por varios autores a partir de las distintas versiones de la Escala de inteligencia de Wechsler para adultos que han ido surgiendo a lo largo del tiempo. El desarrollo de formas cortas ha ido creciendo en paralelo a la aparición de las nuevas versiones de la escala completa. Wielka wojna północna oznaczała zmierzch starych potęg takich, jak Szwecja czy Rzeczypospolita i narodziny nowej - Rosji cara Piotra I. Przeprowadził on w państwie głębokie reformy oraz zmodernizował i unowocześnił siły zbrojne, tworząc bałtycką flotę wojenną. Zmiany te nie uszły uwadze ambasadorów obcych państw, w tym oczywiście Wielkiej Brytanii, którzy raportowali o nich do centrali. Sporządzali także zestawienia sił zbrojnych Rosji, w tym marynarki oraz umieszczali przy takiej okazji trafne spostrzeżenia dotyczące żołdu czy werbunku marynarzy. According to cross-sectional and interventional studies, high-intensity strength and impact-type training provide a powerful osteogenic stimulus even in old age. Longitudinal evidence on the ability of high-intensity training to attenuate age-related bone deterioration is currently lacking, however.
