Engagement with Travel Web Sites and the Influence of Online Comparative Behaviour
2015
We propose a Web site engagement measurement, and study the influence of potential antecedents and consequences. Utilising partial least squares path modeling, we contrast a model with data obtained from respondents choosing a holiday in the Seychelles, on a Web site capable of tracing online within-page and within-site behaviour.
Pomiar wybranych kryteriów jakości informacji na stronach WWW – studium przypadku
2019
The paper presents the measurement of selected web indicators using the example of websites of the state higher vocational schools in Poland. The obtained indicators were used to assess specific criteria of information quality on websites. Based on the conducted study, it can be concluded that the web indicators can be used in the process of improving information quality on websites.
Using Semantics to Manage 3D Scenes in Web Platforms
2005
Computer graphics has widely spread out into various computer applications. After the early wire-frame computer generated images of the 60s, spatial representation of objects improved in the 70s with Boundary Representation (B-Rep) modeling, Constructive Solid Geometry (CSG) objects, and free-form surfaces. Realistic rendering in the 90s, taking into account sophisticated dynamic interactions (between objects or between objects and human actors, physical interactions with light, etc.) now make 3D-scenes much better than simple 3D representations of the real world. Indeed, they are a way to conceive products (industrial products, art products, etc.) and to modify them over time, either inter…
Freenet-like GUIDs for implementing xanalogical hypertext
2002
We discuss the use of Freenet-like content hash GUIDs as a primitive for implementing the Xanadu model in a peer-to-peer framework. Our current prototype is able to display the implicit connection (transclusion) between two different references to the same permanent ID. We discuss the next layers required in the implementation of the Xanadu model on a world-wide peer-to-peer network.

The Quality of Service Issue in Virtual Environments
2011
Networked virtual environments (NVEs) have become a major trend in distributed computing, mainly due to the enormous popularity of multi-player online games in the entertainment industry. Nowadays, NVE systems are considered as the supporting technology for many networked and virtual organizations (NVO) (Singhal & Zyda, 1999), especially to those classified within the field of computer supported cooperative work (CSCW), where networked computer can be seen as a standard to provide the technological means to support the team design (Ott & Nastansky, 1997). These highly interactive systems simulate a virtual world where multiple users share the same scenario. The system renders the im…

Also available from the publisher at http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s11277-010-0068-7 The first joint workshop between Center for TeleInFrastruktur (CTIF), Denmark and Center for Wireless Innovation (CWI), Norway, was held in Aalborg, Denmark on October 8, 2009, focusing on yet undefined term, "5G mobile networks". This Special Issue features eleven selected papers based on networks, services and applications aspects of 5G.
webAppOS: Creating the Illusion of a Single Computer for Web Application Developers
2020
Unlike traditional single-PC applications, which have access to directly attached computational resources (CPUs, memory, and I/O devices), web applications have to deal with the resources scattered across the network. Besides, web applications are intended to be accessed by multiple users simultaneously. That not only requires a more sophisticated infrastructure but also brings new challenges to web application developers.
