Antioxidant and neuroprotective effects of synthesized sintenin derivatives

Three series of sintenin derivatives (compounds 1-14) were designed and prepared and their antioxidative and neuroprotective effects were evaluated. The in vitro models of scavenging 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radicals, chelating ferrous ions, inhibiting the rat brain homogenates lipid peroxidation, and protecting neurons damaged by hydrogen peroxide were employed for bioassays. It was found that sintenin derivatives 4 and 13 showed remarkable antioxidative and neuroprotective activities.

Strong evidence indicates that oxidative stress may be causally involved in the pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease. We have employed human dopaminergic neuroblastoma cells and rat primary mesencephalic neurons to assess the protective potential of three novel bisarylimine antioxidants on dopaminergic cell death induced by complex I inhibition or glutathione depletion. We have found that exceptionally low concentrations (EC(50) values approximately 20 nM) of these compounds (iminostilbene, phenothiazine, and phenoxazine) exhibited strong protective effects against the toxicities of MPP(+), rotenone, and l-buthionine sulfoximine. New localities of 35 species of Apionidae and 2 species of Nanophyidae in the Kampinos National Park are presented, among them respectively 26 and 2 species new for the studied area. Este estudio exploratorio y comprensivo destaca los saberes personales de los docentes transmitidos durante el EPS. La investigación presenta tres viñetas didácticas clínicas de los docentes especialistas en judo. Los resultados muestran que estos saberes personales se construyeron durante la práctica de este deporte cuando estos docentes eran jóvenes practicantes. Se destaca el papel de lo que «se encuentra presente por la experiencia» («déjà-là expérientiel») y de los efectos en las concepciones de los docentes, en relación con el conocimiento personal de estos. Activity-Centered Design: An Appropriation Issue

When designing workplace computer systems one must take human activity into account. It has become standard practice to approach this issue through user-centered design. The aim of this paper is to stimulate thought on activity-centered design and to propose the concept of appropriation as a fundamental principle of this design approach. This orientation aims to take into consideration the constituent function of tools during conception. We will take the design of computer systems dedicated to customer relations as an example.

In this work we are going to take a chronological and typological tour by studying the iconography that appears in the Hellenistic wares imported from the Central and Oriental Mediterranean between 3rd and 2nd centuries BC in Hispania Citerior, in particular from Cartagena. We are going to analyze its functionality in the places of origin, and with the help of the Hispanic contexts we will conclude whether its presence here is a consequence of a certain commercial dynamic, or if it answers to a decorative preference, of taste or trend; even if the images are significant related to ritual or convivial uses, public or private, by the local inhabitant who acquires and uses them.
