Group psychoeducation with relaxation for severe fear of childbirth improves maternal adjustment and childbirth experience – a randomised controlled …

2014

Previous studies on the treatment of women with fear of childbirth have focused on the delivery mode. Women with fear of childbirth often suffer from anxiety and/or depression, and treatment therefore also needs to target postnatal psychological well-being and the early mother-infant relationship.Three hundred and seventy-one nulliparous women out of 4575 scored ≥100 in prospective screening (Wijma Delivery Expectancy Questionnaire, W-DEQ-A), indicating severe fear of childbirth. These women were randomised to psychoeducative group intervention with relaxation (n = 131; six sessions during pregnancy, one postnatal) or to conventional care (n = 240) by community nurses (referral if necessary…

Immediate Effects of Kinesio Taping on Rectus Abdominis Diastasis in Postpartum Women-Preliminary Report.

2021

Background: Rectus abdominis diastasis (RAD) is an excessive divarication of the rectus abdominis muscle with concurrent stretching and thinning of the linea alba, which occurs due to mechanical and functional disturbances in the anterior abdominal wall and the whole body. The primary objective of this study is a palpation assessment of RAD in postpartum women before and after the application of KT tapes and a subsequent comparison of the results with those from a sham intervention group. Methods: A randomized clinical trial was conducted in the Physical Therapy Department at Wroclaw Medical University. Instability of misoprostol tablets stored outside the blister: a potential serious concern for clinical outcome in medical abortion.

2014

IntroductionMisoprostol (Cytotec) is recognised to be effective for many gynaecological indications including termination of pregnancy, management of miscarriage and postpartum haemorrhage. Although not licensed for such indications, it has been used for these purposes by millions of women throughout the world. Misoprostol tablets are most often packaged as multiple tablets within an aluminium strip, each within an individual alveolus. When an alveolus is opened, tablets will be exposed to atmospheric conditions.ObjectiveTo compare the pharmaco technical characteristics (weight, friability), water content, misoprostol content and decomposition product content (type A misoprostol, type B mis…

El debat pro i antifeminista a la literatura catalana medieval

1987

This 1987 PhD dissertation, was de facto supervised by professors Lola Badia (Universitat de Barcelona) and Alan Deyermond (Queen Mary University of London), although, because of legal limitations at that time, supervision was officially signed by another professor). This was a pioneer work in the field of women’s studies, particularly in the so-called “querelle des femmes”, although, as the dissertation study specifies, this label would only become known as such in post-medieval times. This work, then, does not deal with all misogynistic references in the whole corpus of medieval Catalan literature (that would be quite impossible in one publication), but only with those texts arguing for o…

Portret staruszki w rosyjskiej memuarystyce kobiecej XIX wieku

2016

In the present article has been analysed portrayals of older women which appear in the memoirs of the nineteenth century Russian women writers. J. Sushkova, A. Kern and A. Smirnova-Rosset in their memoirs most often depict remarkable family members such as grandmothers and aunts, family friends. They focus on the analysis of their personalities, spiritual values and kind-heartedness rather than their physical appearance and signs of physical aging. Among the old ladies portrayed in the memoirs we encounter pious women, wise, experienced, understanding and hospitable women as well as overbearing women or even hostile towards other people. It has been proved in the article that the old women…

Kobiece poszukiwanie straconego czasu w powieści Tanji Stupar Trifunović "Satovi u majčinoj sobi"

2021

The aim of the article is to present a specifically female approach to memory in Tanja Stupar Trifunović’s novel Satovi u majćinoj sobi (Clocks in My Motherś Room). The novel is a kind of herstory; the Bosnian author reconstructed his own memory of the past after mothers death and initiated a female genealogy in her family this way. The form in which she manages to achieve this is an open mosaic novel. Full of ambivalence, home memory is a main element of the narrator’s identity, struggling with creative challenges and doubts because she is a writer. The story follows the rhythm of memory, the focus is on the mother-daughter and daughter-mother relationship, and the autobiographical memory …

Merit, Competition, Distinction

2018

The article presents a critique of competition by introducing a concept called 'distinction'. Competition is thought to work as a guarantee of the fairness of meritocratic procedures (merit-based recruiting in the job market or e.g. entrance examinations). However, fairness created by competition is, even at its best, only relative. This critique is then used a part of a larger critique of the role of merit in society.
