Cronotopi della misoginia. La rappresentazione femminile nel componimento La lode delle donne (XV secolo)
2014
In the Middle Age, misogyny is a characteristic of many genres and poetic types. Examples are to be found even in Greece, especially in Crete during where the Venetocracy, where the considerable Italian influence is much evident in a lot of texts, like the misogynous Ἔπαινος τῶν γυναικῶν (Praise of Women). The recognition of some motifs and the relation between images of time and space can help to understand the use of topoi by the author and the original elaboration of elements derived from others genres and traditions, like the story of “incarcerated damsel”.

Pilot study on university students' opinion about STEM studies at higher education
2020
The percentages of women enrolled in higher education in the STEM sector are significantly lower than those of men. Overall, gender representation in science, technology, engineering and mathematics degrees in Europe is not balanced. The Leaky Pipeline phenomenon, marked by gender stereotypes, makes the latent gender gap a relevant topic of study. Studies exist on academic performance, self-perception, self-efficacy, outcome expectations; however, studying gender stereotypes linked to STEM studies is also essential. It is necessary to know the social and family context in which young people have grown up, as well as their perception of such studies. To study gender stereotypes of university…
Un destino paradigmatico. L'ibrido e la necessità del γάμος nel mito di Io
2018
The main stages in the myth of the Argive Io are seduction by Zeus, being guarded by “all-seeing” Argos, her bovine hybridization and mad wanderings from Argos to Egypt, and finally her return to the human form and the birth of Epaphus, Zeus’ son. The agent of Io’s hybridization is either Zeus or Hera. Another aspect of this myth is the rejection of one’s love – also of marriage – for the purpose of preserving a condition of virginity and of “freedom” that is anomalous for women. If it is the case that Hera is the cause of Io’s evils, the girl herself appears as the paradigm of the unavoidable “yoke” of love and marriage for women, especially in Aeschylus’ Suppliant Women. Io shares the sam…
Proximity Violence in Migration Times. A Focus in some Regions of Italy, France and Spain
2019
This volume, edited by Ignazia Bartholini, principal investigator of the PROVIDE - Proximity on Violence: Defence and Equity project (Rights, Equality and Citizenship Programme - 2014-2020) funded by the EU, shifted the interpretative focus of its research from gender-based to proximity violence. Systems of protecti…

Violent and/or delinquent women: a vision from the biopsychosocial perspective
2016
Violence and/or delinquency in women have been masked to some extent by society. Subsequently, the relation between drug consumption and violence in women will be explained. Finally, the main biological correlates known as facilitating mechanisms of violence in women will be exhaustively described. The main risk factors for the facilitation of violence and/or del…
Anemia prevalence in women of reproductive age in low- and middle-income countries between 2000 and 2018
2021
Anemia is a globally widespread condition in women and is associated with reduced economic productivity and increased mortality worldwide. Here we map annual 2000–2018 geospatial estimates of anemia prevalence in women of reproductive age (15–49 years) across 82 low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), stratify anemia by severity and aggregate results to policy-relevant administrative and national levels. Additionally, we provide subnational disparity analyses to provide a comprehensive overview of anemia prevalence inequalities within these countries and predict progress toward the World Health Organization’s Global Nutrition Target (WHO GNT) to reduce anemia by half by 2030. Our results …
