Il ritrovamento, presso l’Archivio di Stato di Napoli, dell’unico registro superstite della serie Justitiae della Cancelleria aragonese (1453-1454), ha permesso attraverso l’analisi delle denunce —reati contro l’amministrazione, contro la persona, reati di natura sessuale e contro lo stato— di ricostruire uno spaccato della società calabrese. The finding, in the “Archivio di Stato” of Napoli, of the only surviving Justitiae register belonging to the “Cancelleria aragonese” serie ‘s (1453-1454), led to insight into the Calabria society thruough the analysis of the denunciations of crimes, such as: crimes against government, administration or people and sexuals crimes.

The article analyses the history of the basilian convent of San Salvatore during Middle Ages in connection with social and economic life of Palermo. San Salvatore was a royal fondation of Norman age, but it had to face the Archbishop of Palermo, because the convent belonged to his diocese. The convent had a strong relationship with the city and kept its archive. Abbassess and nuns belonged to knightly and mercantile families, whose members hold offices in the city administration or in the government of the Kingdom. At the end of the Fifteenth century the Archbishop of Palermo and the Pope promoted a reform and the convent abandoned the Greek rite.

This study examines under-18 marriage in urban Tanzania from an ethnographic perspective. Due to poverty and high unemployment, some girls aspire to early marriage. Two pathways to early marriage are identified: first, poverty and gendered economic disparities motivate girls to begin transactional sexual activity at an early age, leading parents to favour early marriage as a risk-reduction measure. Second, educational opportunities are often closed off to girls before marriage, as a result of which early marriage becomes the only culturally approved pathway that allows girls to present themselves to others as a self-sufficient agent.
