The article continues the discussion about the identity and history of the Polish social services. In particular, it addresses the genesis and beginnings of the formation of the educational system of social workers. The memory about the beginnings is an indispensable element of thinking about the future in the present. Coming up with solutions for the future without respect for the achievements of the past creates a risk of committing errors of the past generations. W swojej codziennej pracy pracownicy socjalni doświadczają dylematów etycznych związanych z bezpośrednią praktyką zawodową. Dotyczą one m.in. takich zagadnień, jak: niepewność co do słuszności dokonywanych wyborów, konieczność wybierania między działaniem skutecznym a działaniem zgodnym z przepisami czy podejmowaniem działań wbrew oczekiwaniom i woli klienta. Czym się kierować: czy pozostać w zgodzie z własnym sumieniem, dostosować się do przepisów, pozostając w konflikcie z samym sobą, czy może częściowo dostosować system własnych wartości do przepisów, naginając je do własnego sumienia?

W artykule poruszono kwestie dotyczące stosowania przemocy wobec osób starszych. Zjawisko to staje się jednym z głównych problemów społecznych, z którymi muszą zmierzyć się m.in. pracownicy socjalni oraz specjaliści z zakresu pedagogiki (w tym gerontopedagogiki), socjologii, a także przedstawiciele służb pomocowych. Jak wynika z analizy danych statystycznych oraz wyników badań naukowych, skala stosowania przemocy stale się pogłębia. W opracowaniu zaprezentowano przegląd badań dotyczących skali i determinantów stosowania przemocy wobec seniorów oraz koncepcje wycofania moralnego jako jednego z czynników wywołujących zachowania przemocowe.

Intra-EU Mobility: The Employment and Welfare Experience of Temporary EU Workers in the United Kingdom

This article explores the mobility pathways of temporary EU workers and the implications that transnational temporary mobility has on their labor market outcomes and access to social rights and benefits. The experiences of temporary EU migrants working in the UK show that despite the narrative of the borderlessness of the common European labor market, access to host countries’ labor market and welfare is shaped by their employment status and welfare eligibility criteria that produce worker precariousness. Temporary EU workers’ experiences are characterized by employment insecurity and unequal access to labor and social rights, effects which might increase since the UK has left the EU.
