The Importance of Recovery from Work in Intensified Working Life

This chapter focuses on intensified working life via the intensified job demands (IJDs) model from the perspective of recovery from work by paying particular attention to the potentially mediating and buffering roles of recovery in the linkages between IJDs and their consequences. In empirical analyses, we examined the buffering role of psychological detachment from work during off-job time in the relationship between intensified job demands and job performance and meaning of work. Working outside academia? : perceptions of early-career, fixed-term researchers on changing careers

This article examines the perceptions of early-career, fixed-term researchers in Finnish universities towards changing careers. It maps out the reasons this group has considered the change and where they see themselves in five years. As a theoretical framework, a synthesisation of variables related to career change, created by Ryan, Healy, and Sullivan [2012. “Oh, Won’t You Stay? Predictors of Faculty Intent to Leave a Public University.” Higher Education 63: 421–437.], was used. Työelämäyhteistyö ammattikorkeakouluopettajan osaamishaasteena

Tässä tutkimuksessa tarkasteltiin ammattikorkeakouluopettajien työelämäyhteistyön osaamishaasteita. Tutkimusaineisto kerättiin yksilö- ja ryhmähaastatteluilla, joihin osallistui 16 eri alojen ammattikorkeakouluopettajaa. Aineisto analysoitiin temaattisella analyysillä. Työelämäyhteistyön osaamishaasteina tulivat esille muutos koulutuksen ja työelämän suhteissa, verkostomainen opettajuus, monipuolisten taitojen hallinta ja pedagogiikan uudistaminen. Ammattikorkeakouluopettajien työelämäyhteistyö edellyttää uusien taitojen omaksumisen lisäksi yhteisöllisyyden kehittämistä niin työelämän kuin opiskelijoidenkin kanssa.

Teknologiset innovaatiot muovaavat yhä voimakkaammin työmarkkinoita, kun koneet ja robotit ottavat hoidettavakseen työtehtäviä. Osa työelämässä aiemmin vaadituista taidoista vanhentuu tai muuttuu hyödyttömiksi, ja tilalle nousee uusia osaamistarpeita. Eräs oletettavasti korostuva taito on kyky toimia sosiaalisissa tilanteissa. Tuloksemme osoittavatkin, että Suomen työmarkkinoilla viime vuosikymmeninä yhä suurempi osuus työpaikoista on ollut sellaisia, joissa vaaditaan hyviä sosiaalisia valmiuksia. Interactional means of teaming up: enacting the features of contemporary working life in a theater performance

Abstract The article examines how the aspects of the social world are enacted in a theater play. The data come from a videotaped performance of a professional theater, portraying a story about a workplace organization going through a personnel training program. The aim of the study is to show how the core theme of the play – the teaming up of the personnel – is constructed in the live performance through a range of interactional means. Technology enables teachers to connect their students online with foreign students in a facilitated educational setting. Such tele-collaborative intercultural projects are called virtual exchange practices (O’Dowd 2018). Spanish Abstract: La Muestra Continua de Vidas Laborales (MCVL) es un conjunto de microdatos individuales anonimizados extraidos de los registros de la Seguridad Social de Espana. Es una fuente muy valiosa de informacion utilizada en numerosos estudios sobre Economia laboral y sobre el sistema publico de pensiones espanol. Este articulo presenta dos importantes aportaciones. Por un lado se analiza la representatividad de la MCVL respecto de la poblacion de pensionistas para el periodo 2005-2013.
