Use of platelet concentrate gel in second-intention wound healing: a case report.

Abstract Background Wound healing is a complex and dynamic process. Healing of acute and chronic wounds can be impaired by patient factors (that is, comorbidities) and/or wound factors (that is, infection). Regenerative medicine products, such as autologous/homologous platelet-rich plasma gel, may speed up the healing process. Autologous/homologous platelet-rich plasma is an advanced wound therapy used for hard-to-heal acute and chronic wounds. Laser welded vascular anastomosis

A comparative study was undertaken to investigate the application of a specially adapted microsurgical Neodymium Yag Laser system with a wavelength of 1,319 microns and a CO2 laser system for laser assisted microvascular end-to-end anastomosis (LAMA) of the rat femoral artery. Conventionally sutured anastomoses served as controls. Postoperative investigations included patency tests, light microscopy and tensile strength measurements. Long-term outcome of ventral buccal mucosa onlay graft urethroplasty for urethral stricture repair

Abstract Objectives To evaluate our patients who were treated with ventral buccal mucosa onlay grafts for open urethral stricture repair with a follow-up exceeding 5 years. Buccal mucosa onlay is widely used for urethral reconstruction; however, the long-term outcome of these patients remains unclear. Methods During the past 10 years, 67 patients underwent ventral buccal mucosa onlay graft surgery for urethral stricture repair. Of these, 32 were followed up for longer than 5 years (mean 6.9 years) for the occurrence and timing of any postoperative complications. Abstract Background This study investigated the efficacy of extracorporeal shock wave (ESW) application in stimulating dermal thickness, vascularity, and collagen synthesis of facial skin in a large animal model. Periodontal impact of surgically induced dental lesions in mandibular osteodistraction: An animal study.

SUMMARY. Aim: The objective of the study was to evaluatethe impact of dental lesions on the periodontium, in a canine model of mandibular osteodistraction. Material and methods: In six adult male Beagle dogs, an osteotomy was made between the right second lateral incisor and canine, and a distraction device placed. The roots adjacent to the osteotomy were deliberately damaged by the reciprocating saw and chisel, with preservation of the attached gingiva. While there is a long history of measuring death and disability from injuries, modern research methods must account for the wide spectrum of disability that can occur in an injury, and must provide estimates with sufficient demographic, geographical and temporal detail to be useful for policy makers.
