El arte de poesía castellana. Desde el pensamiento poético de Encina hacia una colección digital de tratados poéticos
2017
This paper presents the project Poetriae, focusing on the steps already taken and on the ongoing work, as well as on its methods and future steps. Mainly, Poetriae aims at building a digital library of Medieval and Golden Age Castilian poetry treatises. It will create digital editions for them, by philologically marking up each metrical and poetic concept in an unambiguous way, in order to allow treatises to be retrievable not just by bibliographic metadata, but also by key concepts, such as poetic genre, stanza types, rhyme, etc. The project also intends to enable automatic analysis and visualizations of such data. Design and application of specific vocabularies for poetry and metrics are …
Ontological representation of texts, and its applicationsin text analysis
2003
Masteroppgave i informasjons- og kommunikasjonsteknologi 2003 - Høgskolen i Agder, Grimstad For the management of a company, the need to know what people think of their products or services is becoming increasingly important in an increasingly competitive market. As the Internet can nearly be described as a digital mirror of events in the ”real“ world, being able to make sense of the semi structured nature of natural language texts published in this ubiquitous medium has received growing interest. The approach proposed in the thesis combines natural language processing and ontologies to represent elements in texts and relations between them. These relations are used to determine what terms …
Semantic to intelligent web era
2013
International audience; The Web has known a very fast evolution: going from the Web 1.0, known as Web of Documents where users are merely consumers of static information, to the more dynamic Web 2.0, known as social or collaborative Web where users produce and consume information simultaneously, and entering the more sophisticated Web 3.0, known as the Semantic Web by giving information a well-defined meaning so that it becomes more easily accessible by human users and automated processes. Fostering service intelligence and atomicity (the ability of autonomous services to interact automatically), remains one of the most upcoming challenges of the Semantic Web. This promotes the dawn of a ne…
Content Production Strategies for E-Government
2008
The terms electronic government (e-government) and digital government are used to refer to the utilization of the Internet and other information and communication technologies (ICT) effectively in public sectors. In e-government development activities, the concern is often in building new means to support and strengthen democracy (e.g., Watson, Alselsen, Evjemo, & Aarsæther, 1999). In other cases, the main concern may be in supporting the work of people in public sectors (e.g., Mustajärvi, 2003), or in building new kinds of services for citizens (e.g., Lyytikäinen, Tiitinen, & Salminen, 2000). Common to most development activities is the need to have the content of public sector inf…
Adopting XML for Large-Scale Information
2011
This book has presented many different ways to encode information in XML format and the purposes for doing so. In this concluding chapter we consider problems related to managing XML information assets and the methods available to address those problems. Approaches for persistently storing XML data can be divided into file storage and database storage, and the research community has been especially active in designing new solutions for XML databases. However, adoption of XML often means massive migration procedures from some legacy data into the XML format; examples of migration cases are given. While describing the problems related to adopting XML, we give examples of the kinds of data fo…
A novel policy-driven reversible anonymisation scheme for XML-based services
2015
Author's version of an article in the journal: Information Systems. Also available from the publisher at: http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.is.2014.05.007 This paper proposes a reversible anonymisation scheme for XML messages that supports fine-grained enforcement of XACML-based privacy policies. Reversible anonymisation means that information in XML messages is anonymised, however the information required to reverse the anonymisation is cryptographically protected in the messages. The policy can control access down to octet ranges of individual elements or attributes in XML messages. The reversible anonymisation protocol effectively implements a multi-level privacy and security based approach, s…
Why Use XML?
2011
Since its inception a decade ago, XML has become a standard technology for software engineers, all Web browsers are able to parse and show XML documents, and huge XML data resources are available from the Internet. Many of the documents are in XHTML, but other XML applications are quite common as well. XML has also become a format that is increasingly common in the files of local disks. This success would not have been possible without collaborative efforts throughout the Web community. Such world-wide collaborative development has included standards, software applications, and case implementations that can serve as models when developing new solutions. In this chapter we consider what ki…
Propagation Length of Antiferromagnetic Magnons Governed by Domain Configurations.
2019
Spintronics seeks to functionalize antiferromagnetic materials to develop memory and logic devices operating at terahertz speed and robust against external magnetic field perturbations. To be useful, such functionality needs to be developed in thin film devices. The key functionality of long-distance spin-transport has, however, so far only been reported in bulk single crystal antiferromagnets, while in thin films, transport has so far been limited to a few nanometers. In this work, we electrically achieve a long-distance propagation of spin-information in thin films of the insulating antiferromagnet hematite. Through transport and magnetic imaging, we demonstrate a strong correlation betwe…

Toward Approximate GML Retrieval Based on Structural and Semantic Characteristics
2010
International audience; GML is emerging as the new standard for representing geographic information in GISs on the Web, allowing the encoding of structurally and semantically rich geographic data in self describing XML-based geographic entities. In this study, we address the problem of approximate querying and ranked results for GML data and provide a method for GML query evaluation. Our method consists of two main contributions. First, we propose a tree model for representing GML queries and data collections. Then, we introduce a GML retrieval method based on the concept of tree edit distance as an efficient means for comparing semi-structured data. Our approach allows the evaluation of bo…
