Gallium-68 and scandium-44 labelled radiotracers based on curcumin structure linked to bifunctional chelators: Synthesis and characterization of pote…

2019

Abstract Curcumin metal complexes showed widespread applications in medicine and can be exploited as a lead structure for developing new tracers for nuclear medicine application. Herein, the synthesis, chemical characterization and radiolabelling with gallium-68 and scandium-44 of two new targeting vectors based on curcumin scaffolds and linked to the chelators 1,4,7-triazacyclononane,1-glutaric acid-4,7-acetic acid (NODAGA) and 1,4-bis(carboxymethyl)-6-[bis(carboxymethyl)]amino-6-methylperhydro-1,4-diazepine (AAZTA) are reported. Synthesis of the precursors could be achieved with a 13% and 11% yield and radiolabelling generally afforded rapid incorporation under mild conditions (>95%). Sta…

Light-controlled reversible modulation of frontier molecular orbital energy levels in trifluoromethylated diarylethenes

2017

Among bistable photochromic molecules, diarylethenes (DAEs) possess the distinct feature that upon photoisomerization they undergo a large modulation of their π-electronic system, accompanied by a marked shift of the HOMO/LUMO energies and hence oxidation/reduction potentials. The electronic modulation can be utilized to remote-control charge- as well as energy-transfer processes and it can be transduced to functional entities adjacent to the DAE core, thereby regulating their properties. In order to exploit such photoswitchable systems it is important to precisely adjust the absolute position of their HOMO and LUMO levels and to maximize the extent of the photoinduced shifts of these energ…

A Modular Formal Total Synthesis of (±)-Cycloclavine

2016

Cycloclavine is a clavine-type Ergot alkaloid noteworthy for its unique pentacyclic skeleton featuring a 3-azabicyclo[3.1.0]hexane substructure. A short convergent route to the racemic alkaloid is described which comprises only eight linear steps and requires only four chromatographic purifications. The two key building blocks can be prepared in high yield from commercially available starting materials. Two consecutive coupling reactions, namely a selective alkylation of a dienolate and a Heck reaction, are the key steps of the reaction sequence.

A convenient chemo-enzymatic synthesis and 18F-labelling of both enantiomers of trans-1-toluenesulfonyloxymethyl-2-fluoromethyl-cyclopropane

2008

The present report is concerned with a stereoselective, reliable route to trans-1,2-disubstituted cyclopropanes and in particular to (S,S)-1-tosyloxymethyl-2-fluoromethyl-cyclopropane (1) and (R,R)-1-tosyloxymethyl-2-fluoromethyl-cyclopropane (ent-1) as conformationally restricted, terminally fluorinated C4-building blocks for medicinal chemistry. The enzymatic kinetic resolution based synthesis of 1 and ent-1 utilises inexpensive, commercially available starting materials. It is based on enantiomeric resolution of rac-cyclopropane carboxylic esters using esterase from Streptomyces diastatochromogenes. Both enantiomers of 1 were prepared selectively in high overall yield over nine steps, st…

Cytochrome F as Indicator for the Interaction of the Two Photosystems in the State 1 and State 2

1990

The transition of plants into a State 1 or a State 2 by an excess of PS I or PS II excitation was described by BONAVENTURA and MYERS [1]. Since the time of their investigations fluorometric methods gained increasing importance in analyzing the distribution of energy between the two photosystems [21. It was possible to correlate the altered energy balance to the phosphorylation of LHCII and it’s migration into non-appressed thylakoid membranes [31. However fluorescence measurements can give only indirect evidences that also changes in the activity of the two photosystems are produced by the changed energy distribution. A direct assessment of the photochemical variations during state transiti…

Scintillation properties of possible cross-luminescence materials

1993

Abstract Employing X-ray and gamma-ray excitation, we studied the scintillation properties of KMgF 3 , KYF 4 :Rb, K 2 YF 5 , KLuF 4 , RbMgF 3 , KZnF 3 and BaTm 2 F 8 crystals. The first four crystals produce intrinsic cross-luminescence (CL) with a decay time of about 1.5 ns. Intrinsic CL was not observed for the other crystals. Emission spectra, results of decay time measurements, and estimates for the absolute light yield are presented.

Global Cropland Yield Monitoring with Gaussian Processes

2021

Agriculture monitoring, and in particular food security, requires near real-time information on crop growing conditions for early detection of possible production deficits. In this work, we propose the use of Gaussian processes (GPs). together with in-situ, EO and ERA-Interim climate reanalysis data for crop yield forecasting. Country-level agricultural survey data from FAOSTAT are used for quantitative assessment. The study is conducted in the framework of the ASAP (Anomaly hot Spots of Agricultural Production) early warning decision support system of the European Commission, which aims at providing timely information about possible crop production anomalies worldwide. After grouping count…

Pricing method as a tool for improved price perception

2006

In the present paper, we have explored pricing methods applied to charging mobile service customers, and the influences of the charging methods on the customers’ price perceptions. The analyses are based on the empirical data collected from Finnish mobile service markets through a quantitative postal survey in 2003. Four hypotheses were tested separately in two customer segments for examining relationship of pricing methods and price perceptions, and the factors affecting to the customers’ pricing method choices. The statistical analyses provided results suggesting that charging methods have a significant effect on customers’ price perceptions. The customers’ price perceptions were found to…

Preparation and Characterization of Novel Poly(alkylidenamine) Nitrile Ruthenium Metallodendrimers

2010

Complete functionalization of N,N,N',N'-[tetrakis(cyanoethyl)-hexamethylenediamine] [N≡C(CH 2 ) 2 ] 2 N(CH 2 ) 6 N[(CH 2 ) 2 -C≡N] 2 (4) and N,N,N',N'-(tetrakis(cyanoethoxypropyl)hexamethylenediamine] [N≡C(CH 2 ) 2 O(CH 2 ) 3 ] 2 N(CH 2 ) 6 N[(CH 2 ) 3 -O(CH 2 ) 2 C≡N] 2 (7) with the organometallic moiety [Ru(η 5 -C 5 H 5 )(PPh 3 ) 2 Cl] and the five-coordinate cis-[RuCl(dppe) 2 ]-[PF 6 ] [dppe = 1,2-bis(diphenylphosphanyl)ethane] was attained with good yield, respectively, by treating the metallo-fragment with the core in methanol (at room temperature and in presence of TIPF 6 as a chloride abstractor) and in 1,2-dichloroethane (under reflux). These novel nitrile-functionalized poly(alkyli…

Finite Element Method and Von Mises Investigation on Bone Response to Dynamic Stress with a Novel Conical Dental Implant Connection

2020

The bioengineering and medical and biomedical fields are ever closer, and they manage to obtain surprising results for the development of new devices. The field of simulations and studies in silica has undergone considerable development in recent years, favoring the advancement of medicine. In this manuscript, a study was carried out to evaluate the force distribution on the implant components (In-Kone® Universal) and on the peri-implant tissues subjected to loading. With the finite element analysis and the Von Mises method, it was possible to evaluate this distribution of forces both at 0 degrees (occlusal force) and at 30 degrees; the applied force was 800 N. The obtained results on this …
