This article relates loneliness to interaction ritual theory, understanding loneliness in terms of problematic microinteractional dynamics. The advantage of interaction ritual theory is that it extends our understanding of the issue of the psychologised self and related questions such as how loneliness feels or is experienced. Loneliness is here defined as a response to interaction representing relational understanding of emotions. Eurooppalaisen viitekehyksen (EVK) merkitys kielikoulutukselle on lisännyt tutkimusta sen taitotasojen kielellisistä piirteistä; tarkempi tieto näistä piirteistä auttaisi EVK:n soveltamista opetusmateriaalien, kurssien ja arviointin laatimiseen. Tutkimuksessa selvitettiin eroavatko EVK:n tasot toisistaan syntaksin kompleksisuuden perusteella. Suomalaiset 14- ja 17-vuotiaat englannin oppijat (N=379) kirjoittivat kolme kirjoitelmaa, jotka arvioitiin EVK:n taitotasoille. By analysing three museums exhibition, this article investigates how the history of European colonialism is approached in an attempt to identify potential for decolonising European minds. The case studies consist of a temporary exhibition (2016–2017) concerning German colonialism at the Deutsches Historisches Museum in Berlin; the permanent exhibition of the House of European History in Brussels and the permanent exhibition of the Sagres Promontory (Portugal), a heritage site related to the conquest of the Americas. School performance of children from monogamous and polygamous families in Nigeria

Scholastic success of Nigerian children coming from polygamous ( n = 50) and monogamous families ( n = 156) was compared. No differences between the two groups were observed across background variables of demographics, parental education and occupation, or family support for schooling. There were no differences in the Junior Secondary School Entrance Exam scores between the groups. However, children from polygamous families reported more difficulties in mathematics and English than their counterparts from monogamous families. The findings are discussed in relation to previous research.
The Biosynthesis of Rare Homo-Amino Acid Containing Variants of Microcystin by a Benthic Cyanobacterium

Microcystins are a family of chemically diverse hepatotoxins produced by distantly related cyanobacteria and are potent inhibitors of eukaryotic protein phosphatases 1 and 2A. Here we provide evidence for the biosynthesis of rare variants of microcystin that contain a selection of homo-amino acids by the benthic cyanobacterium Phormidium sp. LP904c. This strain produces at least 16 microcystin chemical variants many of which contain homophenylalanine or homotyrosine. We retrieved the complete 54.2 kb microcystin (mcy) gene cluster from a draft genome assembly. Pyrazolium- and 1,2-Cyclopentadiene-Based Ligands as σ-Donors: a Theoretical Study of Electronic Structure and Bonding

A high-level theoretical investigation of 1,2-cyclopentadiene (4) was performed using density functional theory and wave function methods. The results reveal that, in contrast to earlier assumptions, the ground state of this ephemeral “allene” is carbene-like with a small diradical component. Furthermore, the electronic structure and chemistry of 4 are found to parallel that of 1,2,4,6-cycloheptatetraene: both molecules possess a low-lying excited singlet state with a closed-shell carbenic structure, enabling rich coordination chemistry. We wstępnej części artykułu zostaną zaprezentowane kategorie OBCY, INNY oraz SWÓJ w różnych konfiguracjach (opozycja komplementarna, triada), obecnych w dyskursie tożsamościowym. Następnie przedstawione zostaną determinanty tożsamości: konfesja i język grupy mieszkańców Zelowa – potomków czeskich emigrantów religijnych. W końcowej części artykułu podkreśla się, że obraz potomków czeskich emigrantów jest zmienny w czasie: początkowo była to grupa homogeniczna pod względem wyznaniowym, etnicznym i językowym, a obecnie jest grupą zasymilowaną językowo i kulturowo.
Wood-inhabiting fungal responses to forest naturalness vary among morpho-groups

The general negative impact of forestry on wood-inhabiting fungal diversity is well recognized, yet the effect of forest naturalness is poorly disentangled among different fungal groups inhabiting dead wood of different tree species. We studied the relationship between forest naturalness, log characteristics and diversity of different fungal morpho-groups inhabiting large decaying logs of similar quality in spruce dominated boreal forests. We sampled all non-lichenized fruitbodies from birch, spruce, pine and aspen in 12 semi-natural forest sites of varying level of naturalness.
