YouTube-videonjakopalvelun suuri suosio on tuonut mukanaan monia uusia internetilmiöitä, joista yksi on YouTube-laulajat. Sivustolta löytyy tuhansia videoita, jotka on toteutettu yksinkertaisesti laulamalla cover-kappale taustanauhan säestyksellä videonauhalle. Muutama tällainen YouTube-laulaja on noussut kuuluisuuteen ja suureksi tähdeksi videoidensa ansiosta. Tämän jälkeen yhä useammat ovat ryhtyneet lataamaan lauluvideoita palveluun – kenties saavuttaakseen itse kuuluisuutta. Celem tekstu jest zaprezentowanie tych praktyk oraz wskazanie możliwych przyczyn dużego nimi zainteresowania. Autorka analizuje potencjalne motywy twórców realizujących te trendy, ale większą uwagę poświęca odbiorcom, próbując dociec, co powoduje, że oglądają tego typu treści. Badania zawarte w tekście obejmują studia przypadków popularnych materiałów typu mukbang i food challenge umieszczonych w serwisie YouTube, a także relacji pomiędzy filmami a specyfiką platformy oraz kultury, w której funkcjonują.

Tässä tutkimuksessa tutkitaan, miten tubettajat ylittävät yksityinen/julkinen -dualismia YouTuben my day -videoilla. Tutkimuksen lähtökohtana on Sarah Michele Fordin teoria julkisesta ja yksityisestä jatkumona. Ford liittää yksityiseen ja julkiseen sekä tilallisen että henkilökohtaisen ulottuvuuden. Tältä pohjalta aineistoa tarkasteltiin kuvauspaikkojen sekä videoilla käsiteltyjen aiheiden kautta. Within the patrimonialization of video gaming, the status of memory representations is still unknown. On YouTube, amateur video makers present games from the 1970s through to the 1990s, combining voice and screencast. By reviewing these low audience channels and interviewing their creators, we have tried to understand the current trends in amateur videos. The ensuing results highlight the diversity of the relationship to memory. ‘‘What an Eccentric Performance" : Storytelling in Online Let's Plays

In this article, I examine the phenomenon called Let’s Play (LP) and conduct a narrative analysis on two LPs made of Sierra Entertainment’s Phantasmagoria games. The LPs tell viewers a story different from the one told in the games, that is, they tell the story of the player rather than that of the game. In that story, the experience of playing a video game is revealed to the audience. This story would be hidden without the player-narrators know as LPs around the world. Coding emotions in computer-mediated communication: the example of YouTube comments

Computer-mediated communication (CMC) is essentially text-based. This is generally said to result in a “paucity of paralinguistic and non-linguistic cues” (Bieswanger, 2013: 468), but it is also considered to be the main reason for the development of other characteristic non-verbal modalities, such as emoticons and emoji. How are, then, emotions expressed in such a specific context? Are verbal modalities as limited as they are said to be? Do non-verbal modalities complete or replace them? This paper will try to answer those questions using discourse analysis tools applied to a sample of comments on a YouTube video.
