In this article, I investigate poetry written by two young Muslim people during their spare time. Adopting Shahab Ahmed’s (2016) understanding of Islamic in its plenitude and complexity, I ask how Islamic their texts are. The participants, Neda and Mohammed (both pseudonyms), grew up in Islamic countries where they were socialised in faith literacy practices, including practices around sacred and devotional texts, before moving to Norway in their teens. The Role of Individual- and Macro-Level Social Determinants on Young Adolescents’ Psychosomatic Complaints

This study examines the social determinants of psychosomatic complaints in young adolescents. Using data from the Health Behaviour in School-aged Children (HBSC) study, psychosomatic complaints are studied in 98,773 adolescents (11- and 13-year-olds; 48% 11-year-olds, 52% 13-year-olds; 52% females, 48% males) from 34 European countries. Individual-level determinants, including family-, peer- and school-related factors as well as country-level determinants (Human Development Index [HDI]) are considered. A key developmental task in young adulthood is acquiring financial capability (Serido, Shim, & Tang, 2013), meaning competent financial management skills and the responsibilities that these involve. Physical Fitness in Young Men between 1975 and 2015 with a Focus on the Years 2005–2015

Purpose: The purpose of the present study was to investigate changes in physical fitness and anthropometry of young men entering the military service in Finland during the years 1975–2015. Methods: The study included the fitness test results of 627,142 healthy young male conscripts (age 19.1 T 0.4 yr). Data included results of aerobic capacity, muscle fitness tests, and anthropometric characteristics. Results: The results show that the increase in mean body mass of young men has slowed down during the last 10 yr. Background To compare the anti plaque efficacy of Modified Bass, Fones and Normal brushing techniques in young adults. Material and methods An investigator blinded randomized controlled trial with parallel design was adopted to compare the anti plaque efficacy of three tooth brushing techniques. The study population consisted of 120 dental students aged between 18 and 30 years. Results At the baseline, the mean plaque scores were 0.74 ± 0.39, 0.77 ± 0.34 and 0.98 ± 0.36 respectively, for Modified Bass, Fones and Normal brushing technique. Liikuntatehtäviä kotiläksyinä : koulun ulkopuolella tapahtuva oppiminen opetuksen tukena tyttöjen liikunnassa

Tässä liikuntaläksykokeilussa tutkittiin, miten erilaiset liikunnalliset kotitehtävät, liikuntaläksyt, toteutuivat koululiikunnan osana ja miten oppilaat kokivat liikuntaläksyt sekä oman osallisuutensa niiden tekemisessä. Liikuntaläksykokeilu toteutettiin lukuvuonna 2015–2016 keskisuomalaisessa koulussa 6.–9.-luokan tyttöjen kanssa, yhteensä 117 tyttöä. Liikuntaläksykokeilun päätteeksi tehdyn oppilaskyselyn vastaukset analysoitiin frekvenssien, ristiintaulukoiden (khiin neliötesti) ja keskiarvovertailujen avulla (varianssianalyysi ja t-testi).
