The Mediating Role of Self-Esteem in the Relationship between Mother’s Attachment Style and Offspring’s Depression

The present study aimed to investigate the mediating role of the offspring’s self-esteem in the association between the mother’s attachment style and the depressive symptoms of a sample of early adolescents. The participants included 484 students, aged 11 to 15 ( M age = 12.24, SD = .91) and their mothers, ranged in age between 30 and 69 years ( M age = 43.82, SD = 5.13). The students completed the Multidimensional Self-Concept Scale and the Self‐administered Psychiatric Scales for adolescents - Depression. Mothers completed the Attachment Style Questionnaire. Bakalaura darba mērķis ir izpētīt saistības starp pašcieņu, ķermeņa tēla uztveri un perfekcionismu vidusskolu izlaiduma klašu jauniešiem. Pētījumā tika izvirzīts jautājums: Kāda saistība pastāv starp pašcieņu, ķermeņa tēla uztveri un perfekcionismu vidusskolas izlaiduma klašu jauniešiem? Lai iegūtu atbildes uz pētījumā izvirzīto jautājumu, tika izmantotas tādas pētījuma metodes kā:  Perfekcionisma aptauja (Almost Perfect Scale- Revised Short Form; Slaney, Rice, Mobley, Trippi & Ashby, 2001). Potential combined effects of maternal smoking and coffee intake on foetal death within the Danish National Birth Cohort

Background: Several studies have linked coffee intake and smoking to foetal death, but a possible interaction between both exposures remains unknown.Methods: We studied, within the Danish National Birth Cohort, the potential interaction between smoking and coffee drinking while pregnant on the risk of foetal (early and late) death. The study included 90 086 pregnant women, with information about their smoking habit and coffee intake in early pregnancy, and several potential confounding factors. The ability to infer mental and affective states of others is crucial for social functioning. This ability, denoted as Theory of Mind (ToM), develops rapidly during childhood, yet results on its development across adolescence and into young adulthood are rare. In the present study, we tested the two‐component model, measuring age‐related changes in social‐perceptual and social‐cognitive ToM in a sample of 267 participants between 11 and 25 years of age. Darbā tiek identificētas jauniešu ar invaliditāti ikdienas vajadzības un spēju šī vajadzības patstāvīgi apmierināt. Darba ietvaros tiek aplūkota sociālā darba nozīmība jauniešu ar īpašām vajadzībām motivēšanā būt patstāvīgiem un apzināties sevi kā līdzvērtīgu sabiedrības locekli. Diplomdarba mērķis ir izpētīt kā galda spēļu izmantošana var attīstīt skolēnu runāšanas prasmes. Šādas tēmas izvēli pamato autores saskaršanās ar problēmu – skolēniem ir grūti izmantot angļu valodu saziņai angļu valodas stundās. Galda spēļu izmantošana tiek minēta kā nozīmīga runāšanas prasmju uzlabošanā, tādēļ tā tika izmantota autores angļu valodas stundās 4.klases skolēniem. Izmantotā pētījuma metode ir gadījuma pētījums kādas Rīgas sākumskolas 4.klasē. Pētījuma gaitā tika izmantotas tādas datu vākšanas metodes kā aptaujas anketas, esošo zināšanu pārbaude un zināšanu pārbaude pēc metodes pielietošanas. High Energy Emission and its Variability in Young Stellar Objects

Young stars show a variety of highly energetic phenomena, from accretion and outflow processes to hot coronal plasmas confined in their outer atmosphere, all regulated by the intense stellar magnetic fields. Many aspects on each of these phenomena are debated, but, most notably, their complex mutual interaction remains obscure. In this work I report how these phenomena are simultaneously responsible for the high-energy emission from young stars, with a special focus on the expected and observed variability in the X-ray band.
