In-beam study of high-spin states in199,200,201Po and systematical features of Z=84 polonium isotopes
1985
Excited states in199,200,201Po were populated in the reactions12C+194Pt and12C+195Pt. The subsequentγ-radiation was studied using conventional in-beam spectroscopic methods. States with spins up to (29/2), 18 and ≧35/2ħ, respectively, were populated in the three nuclides. Three isomeric states with the following half-lives were observed in200Po:T1/2(8+)=90(15) ns,T1/2(11−)=120(20) ns andT1/2(12+)=267(4) ns. The structure of the excited states was interpreted within the framework of the spherical shell model. The three isomers are suggested to be two-quasiparticle states with configurationsπ(h22)8J, π(h9i13/2)11- and v(i1 3/2−2)12+. A self-consistent Hartree-Fock calculation was performed to…
Gamma-ray spectroscopy of 192–195Po
1999
Prompt and delayed γ-rays have been observed from very neutron deficient 192–195Po nuclei by using the recoil-decay tagging (RDT) and recoil gating techniques. The yrast levels up to the (10+) state in the 192Po were identified for the first time. Comprehensive data for 194Po rendered it possible to extend the yrast line and to observe several positive and negative parity non-yrast states. In the odd-mass isotopes 193Po and 195Po, favoured and unfavoured states on top of the 13/2+ state have been identified. The results are discussed within the simple vibrator and rotor pictures as well as in the framework of coexisting spherical and deformed-intruder structures.
Identification of yrast high-Kintrinsic states inOs188
2009
The high-spin structure of the $Z=76$ nucleus $^{188}\mathrm{Os}$ has been studied using the incomplete fusion reaction $^{7}\mathrm{Li}+^{186}\mathrm{W}$. A ${K}^{\ensuremath{\pi}}={10}^{+}$ band has been established up to spin $({24}^{+})$ and its crossing with the ground-state band has been studied. In addition, intrinsic high-$K$ states have been identified and on top of two of them, ${K}^{\ensuremath{\pi}}={7}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ and ${K}^{\ensuremath{\pi}}={10}^{\ensuremath{-}}$, regular bands have been observed. The ${K}^{\ensuremath{\pi}}={16}^{+}$ and ${K}^{\ensuremath{\pi}}={18}^{+}$ states are yrast whereas the ${K}^{\ensuremath{\pi}}={14}^{+}$ level lies only 33 keV above the yras…
Evidence for molecular-cluster states in222Th
1983
The groundstate and a negative parity band of222Th have been observed in the208Pb (180, 4n)222Th reaction by conversion electron and γ-ray spectroscopy identifying the evaporation residues in a recoil separator. The de-excitation pattern is characterized by strong El transitions interconnecting the levels of alternating parity. The yrast levels may be interpreted as a molecularcluster band.
TERMINATING STATES IN Z = 71Lu NUCLEI WITH N ≈ 90
2010
The high-spin yrast states in 161 Lu are calculated in a Cranked Nilsson-Strutinsky approach keeping track of configurations and their evolution with spin. The outcome from calculations neglecting pairing and including pairing are compared. It is predicted that several yrast region configurations terminate at a very favored energy around I = 50 and that one of the observed bands is two transitions short of termination.
The two particle-phonon multiplet ?h 11/2 ?f 7/2 3? and higher-lying four-nucleon yrast states in the doubly-odd nucleus 146 63 Eu83
1988
From in-beamγ-ray measurements we have established the high-spin states in146Eu up to 3.5 MeV excitation andIπ=(15+). The highest levels observed are formed by alignment of four nucleons, involving excitation of the144Sm core. Negative-parity states at about 2 MeV are classified asπh11/2νf7/2 × 3− octupole excitations. Quantitative analyses for the octupole multiplet members and for theν=4 states based on empirical data from neighbouring nuclei are presented.
In-beam spectroscopy at the proton-drip line. First observation of excited states in 106Sb and 107Sb
1994
Neutron deficient nuclei close to Sn-100 have been investigated in-beam using the NORDBALL detector array. A target of Fe-54 was bombarded with a beam of Ni-58 at 270 MeV. Evaporation residues were identified by detecting protons and alpha particles in a 4 pi charged particle multi-detector set-up and neutrons in a 1 pi neutron detector wall in coincidence with gamma rays. Excited states of the proton drip line nucleus Sb-106 and of Sb-107 were identified for the first time. The yrast level schemes constructed from gamma-gamma-particle coincidence and gamma-gamma angular correlation analysis are presented and discussed within the framework of the nuclear shell model.
First observation of excited states inPo192
1996
\ensuremath{\gamma} rays following the $^{160}\mathrm{Dy}$${(}^{36}$Ar,4n${)}^{192}$Po reaction have been identified by employing a high-transmission gas-filled separator in recoil decay tagging measurements. The deduced level scheme reveals a flattening of the energy systematics, when going towards the neutron midshell indicating that the deformed intruder structures have become yrast. \textcopyright{} 1996 The American Physical Society.
Shape coexistence in183Tl
2001
Prompt and delayed $\ensuremath{\gamma}$ rays originating from the neutron deficient nucleus ${}^{183}\mathrm{Tl}$ have been observed using the recoil-decay tagging and recoil gating techniques. The band-head energy of the prolate $\ensuremath{\pi}{i}_{13/2}$ yrast band has been determined. The yrast structure has also been confirmed up to the ${(33/2}^{+})$ state. In addition, a candidate for the ${(11/2}^{\ensuremath{-}})$ level based on the $\ensuremath{\pi}{(h}_{11/2}{)}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ configuration has been observed.
In-beam study of 253No using the SAGE spectrometer
2017
The heavy actinide nucleus 253No (Z = 102) was studied using the (S)ilicon (A)nd (Ge)rmanium (SAGE) spectrometer allowing simultaneous in-beam $\gamma$ -ray and conversion electron spectroscopy at the accelerator laboratory of the University of Jyvaskyla. Using the recoil-tagging technique, $\gamma$ -electron coincidences have allowed for the extension of the level scheme in the lower-spin region of the yrast band. In addition, internal conversion coefficient (ICC) measurements to establish the multipolarity of transitions have been performed. Measurement of the interband-intraband branching ratios supports the assignment of the Nilsson band-head configuration $9/2^{-}[734]$ assigned in pre…
