The human fungal pathogen Candida albicans undergoes reversible morphogenetic transitions between yeast, hyphal and pseudohyphal forms. The fungal vacuole actively participates in differentiation processes and plays a key role supporting hyphal growth. The ABG1 gene of C. albicans encodes an essential protein located in the vacuolar membranes of both yeast and hyphae. Using fluorescence microscopy of a green fluorescent protein-tagged version of Abg1p, a fraction of the protein was detected in hyphal tips, not associated with vacuolar membranes. Lai gan akūtu mezenteriālu išēmiju (AMI) uzskata par retu slimību, tā ir ātri progresējoša un visbiežāk noved pie pacienta nāves. Neskatoties uz pēdējo gadu medicīnas sasniegumiem, agrīna un pareiza diagnoze vēl joprojām ir apgrūtinoša. Šobrīd klīnikā lietotie laboratorijas testi nav gana specifiski, tādēļ agrīna un jutīga biomarķiera izstrādei ir izšķiroša nozīme, lai glābtu pacientu dzīvības. Darba mērķis ir izpētīt trīs biomarķieru un kopējās antioksidantu spējas izmaiņas žurku plazmā pirmo divu stundu laikā kopš sākusies AMI. Formatīvā vērtēšana digitāli bioloģijā un ģeogrāfijā

Darba mērķis ir izpētīt formatīvās vērtēšanas (FV) digitāli izmantošanu bioloģijas un ģeogrāfijas mācību procesā. Literatūras analīze veikta par vērtēšanu, atgriezenisko saiti, IKT rīkiem un FV digitālajiem rīkiem bioloģijā, ģeogrāfijā. Empīriskajā daļā analizēti un aprobēti trīs FV digitālie rīki bioloģijā, ģeogrāfijā, izvērtēta skolotāju, skolēnu, vecāku attieksme digitālo rīku lietošanā. Pētījuma rezultāti pierāda, ka izmantotie FV digitālie rīki nodrošina jēgpilnu FV un kvalitatīvu atgriezenisko saiti bioloģijā un ģeogrāfijā.

[EN] Fluorescent organic-inorganic mesoporous hybrid materials have been prepared and characterised, and their behaviour against nitroaromatic explosives have been tested. MCM-41 silica was used as an inorganic scaffold and pyrene (P derivative containing trialkoxysilane moieties), dansyl and fluorescein (D and F derivatives also containing trialkoxysilane groups, respectively) fluorophores have been anchored on hybrid materials by a co-condensation method to obtain a homogenous distribution of dyes into the pores of the support. BACKGROUND The risk of transfusion-transmitted infection (TTI) has been minimized by introduction of nucleic acid testing (NAT) and pathogen inactivation (PI). This case report describes transmission of human immunodeficiency virus Type 1 (HIV-1) to two recipients despite these measures. STUDY DESIGN AND METHODS In March 2009 a possible TTI of HIV-1 was identified in a patient that had received pooled buffy coat platelet concentrate (BC-PLT) in November 2005.
