Hydrophobic pocket targeting probes for enteroviruses
2015
Visualization and tracking of viruses without compromising their functionality is crucial in order to understand virus targeting to cells and tissues, and to understand the subsequent subcellular steps leading to virus uncoating and replication. Enteroviruses are important human pathogens causing a vast number of acute infections, and are also suggested to contribute to the development of chronic diseases like type I diabetes. Here, we demonstrate a novel method to target site-specifically the hydrophobic pocket of enteroviruses. A probe, a derivative of Pleconaril, was developed and conjugated to various labels that enabled the visualization of enteroviruses under light and electron micros…
Development of eco-friendly processes for the synthesis of biobased solvents and organocatalysts
2018
Oxazolidinones are promising compounds for industrial applications, but nowadays there is not convenient method to produce them on large scale, because of the use of reactants and metallic catalysts harmful for health and environment. A new synthesis method of these compounds was thus elaborated using aminoalcohols and diethyl carbonate. This reaction is catalysed by a biobased imidazolium hydrogen carbonate which is produced by an electrochemical pathway in order to reduce its impact on the environment. This oxazolidinones synthesis method was then applied to the synthesis of a biobased oxazolidinone. To achieve this, an aminoalcohol synthesis was realised, and its structure was established…
Monitoring seasonal changes in microbial populations of spruce forest soil of the Northern Temperate Zone
2012
Soil microbial populations in the Northern Temperate Zone have been poorly studied in comparison with extreme environments. The aim of the work was to study the seasonal changes in the microbial populations of spruce forest soil of the Northern Temperate Zone using classical methods of microbiology and molecular biology. Upper horizons in two Picea abies stands on sod- podzolic and illuvial humus podzol soil were analysed. Sampling was done monthly over a period of twelve months (May 2009-April 2010). Microbial communities in both experimental plots showed different responses to the analysed environmental factors. In the sod-podzolic soil only the fungal DNA amount was significantly higher …
Long-lasting exocytosis and massive structural reorganisation in the egg periphery during cortical reaction inPlatynereis dumerilii(Annelida, Polycha…
1995
SummaryThe course of the cortical reaction in thePlatynereis dumeriliiegg is described from live observation and from sectioned fixed material and is found to differ in several aspects from the course of cortical reactions in better-known systems. Cortical granules are unusually numerous. They are discharged by exocytosis during a period of about 25 min following fertilisation (18°C). Most of the surplus membrane material brought to the egg surface by exocytosis is set free into the perivitelline space. Swelling of egg jelly precursor secreted by cortical granule exocytosis may be causal for the detachment of the vitelline envelope from the egg cell surface which, however, remains attached …
Melanomas eksomu sekvenēšana ģenētisko marķieru identificēšanai
2017
Understanding the domino reaction between 1-diazopropan-2-one and 1,1-dinitroethylene. A molecular electron density theory study of the [3 + 2] cyclo…
2017
The reaction between 1-diazopropan-2-one and 1,1-dinitroethylene has been studied using the Molecular Electron Density Theory (MEDT) at the B3LYP/6-31G(d,p) computational level. This reaction comprises two domino processes initialised by a common [3 + 2] cycloaddition (32CA) reaction yielding a 1-pyrazoline, which participates in two competitive reaction channels. Along channel I, 1-pyrazoline firstly tautomerises to a 2-pyrazoline, which by a proton abstraction and spontaneous loss of nitrite anion yields the final pyrazole, while along channel II, the thermal extrusion of the nitrogen molecule in 1-pyrazoline gives a very reactive diradical intermediate which quickly yields the final gem-…
The structural aspects of the transformation of 3-nitroisoxazoline-2-oxide to 1-aza-2,8-dioxabicyclo[3.3.0]octane derivatives: Experimental and MEDT …
2019
Abstract Reaction of 3-nitroisoxazoline-2-oxide with monosubstituted ethenes, first time documented fifty years ago, have been reviewed. Structures of phenyl and cyano derivatives of 1-aza-2,8-dioxabicyclo[3.3.0]octane produced in [3 + 2] cycloaddition (32CA) between styrene and acrylonitrile with 3-nitroisoxazoline-2-oxide were determined through single crystal XRD analysis. The molecular mechanism of the title 32CA has been also analyzed within the Molecular Electron Density Theory (MEDT) based on the M06-2X(PCM)/6-311 + G(d,p) calculations.

2,3-Dihydro-3-methyl-2-nitrimino-1,3-thiazole
2000
The title compound ¿alternatively, 3-methyl-2-[oxido(oxo)hydrazono]-2,3-dihydro-1,3-thiazole¿, C(4)H(5)N(3)O(2)S, was obtained by methylation of N-(2-thiazolyl)nitramine. The molecule lies on a mirror plane and the thiazole ring is planar, regular in shape and aromatic. The S atom participates in the aromatic sextet via an electron pair on the 3p(z) orbital. In the crystal, the molecules are arranged in parallel layers, bound to each other by weak C-H.O and C-H.N hydrogen bonds and by S.O dipolar interactions, with an interlayer separation of 3.23 A.
Carbene-metal complexes as molecular scaffolds for construction of through-space TADF emitters
2021
Through-space charge transfer (CT) process is observed in Cu(I) carbene-metal-amide complexes, where conventional imidazole or imidazoline N-heterocyclic (NHC) carbene fragments act as inert linkers and CT proceeds between a metal-bound carbazole donor and a distantly situated carbene-bound phenylsulfonyl acceptor. The resulting electron transfer gives a rise to efficient thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF), characterized with high photoluminescence quantum yields (ΦPL up to 90 %) and radiative rates (kr) up to 3.32×105 s-1. TADF process is aided by fast reverse intersystem crossing (rISC) rates of up to 2.56×107 s-1. Such emitters can be considered as hybrids of two existing TA…
