The impact of Nordic walking on bone properties in postmenopausal women with pre-diabetes and non-alcohol fatty liver disease

This study investigated the impact of Nordic walking on bone properties in postmenopausal women with pre-diabetes and non-alcohol fatty liver disease (NAFLD). A total of 63 eligible women randomly participated in the Nordic walking training (AEx, n = 33), or maintained their daily lifestyle (Con, n = 30) during intervention. Bone mineral content (BMC) and density (BMD) of whole body (WB), total femur (TF), femoral neck (FN), and lumbar spine (L2-4) were assessed by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry. Second Harmonic Emission From Dielectric Nanoresonators in the Absorption Regime

We study second harmonic generation in dielectric nanocylinders as a function of the wavelength of the incident field and geometrical dimensions. Uncommonly, we consider a spectral range in which the emitted nonlinear signal is partially absorbed by the dielectric. Surprisingly, we reveal that the second harmonic efficiency does not decrease as the imaginary part of the complex dielectric refractive index increases. Indeed, the presence of higher order multipoles supported by the resonators at the fundamental wavelength can significantly boost the generated second harmonic signal even in the dielectric absorption spectral region achieving nonlinear efficiency of the same order of magnitude …

Darba mērķis ir izpētīt Saeimas deputātu pieteikuma teorētiskos un praktiskos aspektus Satversmes tiesas procesā, kā arī analizēt Saeimas deputātu pieteikumu kā parlamenta mazākuma aizsardzības mehānismu. The purpose of this paper is to present selected aspects of the relationship between the father’s absence and children’s well‑being. The article discusses the consequences of the father’s absence in the family, including the impoverishment of the family, children’s evaluation of their fathers, the health of mothers and newborn infants, lawbreaking by grown‑up children, teenage pregnancy, violence towards children, alcohol abuse, drugs, and school problems. It was found that fathers play an important role in children’s lives and their absence has a negative impact on their well‑being.

The non-linear optical properties of π-conjugated organic molecules such as TTF and their derivatives have recently gained particular interest due to their extended π-system and the strong electron donating character. The knowledge of the nonlinear optical response, as well as the impact of the charge transfer on the nonlinearity is very important. As such systems can be used in a variety of applications. In this study we investigate the nonlinear absorption of novel tetrathiafulvalene-phenanthroline based dyads by means of the Z-scan technique.

This Full Research Paper presents the most prominent query formulation errors in Structured Query Language (SQL), and maps these errors to their cognitive explanations. Understanding query formulation errors is a key to teaching SQL. more effectively. However, studies on what kind of errors novices struggle with are relatively scarce when compared to, for example, programming languages. Although committing errors is a crucial part in learning, some errors are relatively easy to fix, and their commonness is not necessarily an indication of their difficulty.
