Factors Associated with Anti-SARS-CoV-2 Vaccine Acceptance among Pregnant Women: Data from Outpatient Women Experiencing High-Risk Pregnancy

2023

Pregnant women are at higher risk of severe Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) complications than non-pregnant women. The initial exclusion of pregnant women from anti-SARS-CoV-2 vaccines clinical trials has caused a lack of conclusive data about safety and efficacy for this vulnerable population. This cross-sectional study aims to define the factors related to vaccination adherence in a sample of women experiencing high-risk pregnancies. The recruited women completed a questionnaire based on the Health Belief Model. Data were analyzed to evaluate the associations between socio-demographic variables and vaccination acceptance through descriptive, univariate and multivariate logistic analys…

Organization and Running of the National Plebiscite for Peace in Opole Voivodeship

2018

The National Plebiscite for Peace took place in Poland between 17 and 22 May 1951 under the auspices of the Polish Committee of the Defenders of Peace. The campaign aimed to gather signatures under the Berlin Appeal announced by the World Peace Council as regards signing the Peace Treaty between five world powers. Voting was preceded by an intensive propaganda campaign in defence of peace and condemning “warmongers”. In Opole Voivodeship, analogically to the whole country, numerous peace committees came into existence before the plebiscite. A group of about 40,000 activists were recruited. Many gatherings, mass meetings and demonstrations were organized. Propaganda was conducted by means of…

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for Major Depressive Disorder: Insights into a New Generation of Face-to-Face Treatment and Digital Self-Help Appro…

2021

Major depressive disorder (MDD) represents a key contributor to the global burden of mental illness given its relatively high lifetime prevalence, frequent comorbidity, and disability rates. Evidence-based treatment options for depression include pharmacotherapy and psychotherapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Beyond traditional CBT, over 15 years ago, Hayes proclaimed a new generation of contextualistic and process-orientated so-called third wave of CBT interventions, including acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). Using mindfulness and acceptance as well as commitment and behavior change processes, the transdiagnostic ACT approach aims to increase psychological flexibilit…

Does mindfulness-, acceptance-, and value-based intervention alleviate burnout? : A person-centered approach

2019

This study investigated individual differences in changes in burnout symptoms during a brief mindfulness-, acceptance-, and value-based intervention. It also studied whether the changes in burnout were simultaneous with the changes in mindfulness skills. The role of practices and learning experiences in these changes were investigated. The participants were employees of various occupations (n = 105, 80% women, Mage = 48 years). Latent profile analysis was used to investigate the associations between burnout and mindfulness skills during the intervention and a 4-month follow-up period. Six distinct profiles were found that differed in levels and changes of both burnout and mindfulness skills…

Exceptional LAS Requests in Eurotransplant: Analysis of an 8-year Effort to Improve Lung Allocation for Precarious Patients

2020

PURPOSE: Following introduction of the lung allocation score (LAS) in 2011, Eurotransplant member centers can apply for an exceptional LAS (eLAS) if the calculated LAS insufficiently reflects the perceived transplant benefit for a patient, specifically in case of primary pulmonary hypertension group 1 and 4; combined lung+non-renal transplantation; rare diseases; or extracorporeal support. Each eLAS proposal is evaluated by a LAS Review Board, consisting of ≥3 lung transplant experts, which subsequently declines or approves the eLAS request in consensus of ≥3 votes. In case of a lower than accepted score, predefined business rules to assign LAS percentiles are used. METHODS: A retrospective…

Assessment of process stability and capability in a manufacturing organization: a case study

2021

Quality is considered asthe principal factor that determines the long-termsuccess or failure of any organization. Organizations perform quality control by monitoring process output using Statistical Quality Control, performed as part of the production process (Statistical Process Control, SPC) or as a final quality control check (Acceptance Sampling).SPC is a major quality management statistical tool and its instruments (control charts and capability analysis) are applied to virtually any type of organization (manufacturing, services or transactions - for example, those involving data, communications, software, or movement of materials). The aim of this paper is to present a case study, rea…

Psychological inflexibility explains distress in parents whose children have chronic conditions

2018

Experiential avoidance, cognitive defusion, and mindfulness have all been associated with psychological disorders and well-being. This study investigates whether they predict psychological distress, i.e., symptoms of burnout, depression, stress and anxiety, in parents of children with chronic conditions. We hypothesized that these factors would exhibit a large degree of common variance, and that when compared to mindfulness and defusion, experiential avoidance on its own would predict a larger proportion of unique variance. 75 parents of children with chronic conditions having burnout symptoms who participated in an intervention study completed measures of burnout, stress, anxiety, depressi…
