New Self-Assembling Polyaspartamide-Based Brush Copolymers Obtained by Atom Transfer Radical Polymerization

A simple and efficient method for the synthesis of polyaspartamide-based brush copolymers using Atom Transfer Radical Polymerization (ATRP) is here presented. The syntheses were performed by using two subsequent steps. In the first step the macroinitiator was obtained by the conjugation of a proper number of 2-bromoisobutyryl bromide (BIB) residues to the R, -poly(N-2-hydroxyethyl)-D,L-aspartamide (PHEA) side chains, obtaining the PHEA-BIB copolymer. Composite Thin Film by Hydrogen-Bonding Assembly of Polymer Brush and Poly(vinylpyrrolidone)

Based on hydrogen-bonding layer-by-layer (LBL) assembly in aqueous solution, poly(vinylpyrrolidone) (PVPON) and a spherical polymer brush with a poly(methylsilsesquioxane) (PSQ) core and poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) hair chains were used to fabricate composite multilayer thin films. Hydrogen bonding as the driving force was confirmed by FT-IR spectrometry. A simple method (Filmetric F20) was introduced to determine the thickness and refractive index of the films. Uranium(VI) sequestration by polyacrylic and fulvic acids in aqueous solution

Stability data on the formation of dioxouranium(VI) species with polyacrylic (PAA) and fulvic acids (FA) are reported with the aim to define quantitatively the sequestering capacity of these high molecular weight synthetic and naturally occurring ligands toward uranium(VI), in aqueous solution. Compatibility between polystyrene copolymers and polymers in solution via hydrogen bonding

Abstract It has been applied the concept of improving miscibility, by introducing and optimizing the extent of intermolecular hydrogen-bonding interactions between two polymers. We select a commodity polymer such as polystyrene, to study the compatibility in chloroform with poly(vinyl pyridine) and poly(vinyl pyrrolidone), both considered as proton acceptors. In order to enhance polymer–polymer miscibility, polystyrene is slightly modified by copolymerization with methacrylic acid, in the first case, and with vinyl-phenol comonomer, in the second one. Abstract Salmon calcitonin (sCT) is characterized by a poor oral availability. A new copolymer, β-poly(N-2-hydroxyethyl)-graft-{N-2-ethylene[2-poly(methacrylic acid sodium salt)isobutyrate]}- d , l -aspartamide (PHEA-IB-p(MANa + )), was designed for the oral administration of sCT through the formation of supramolecular aggregates (SAs) based on electrostatic interactions. Transbuccal tablets of carbamazepine: formulation, release and absorption pattern.

Tranbsuccal drug administration is an attractive method, as it has several advantages especially with respect to peroral delivery. Here we report: i) the aptitude of carbamazepine (CBZ) to penetrate porcine buccal mucosa and reconstituted human oral (RHO) epithelium; ii) three different tablet formulations for transbuccal administration; iii) the drug release rate from tablets. Nanogel-antimiR-31 conjugates affect colon cancer cells behaviour

Soft and flexible nanogels, produced by electron beam (e-beam) irradiation of poly(N-vinyl pyrrolidone) and acrylic acid, were evaluated as delivery devices of the inhibitor of miR-31, a small RNA molecule with an important role in colorectal cancer (CRC) progression. The nanogel carriers developed possess both carboxyl and primary amino groups; the former were activated to react with the primary amino group present in the purposely-functionalised AntimiR-31. Influence of gel composition in the synthesis of MoVTeNb catalysts over their catalytic performance in partial propane and propylene oxidation

[EN] MoVTeNb mixed oxides catalysts have been prepared by a slurry method with different molar compositions (Mo/Te ratio from 2 to 6 and Nb/(V + Nb) ratio from 0 to 0.7) in the synthesis gel leading to different crystalline phases distribution and catalytic behaviour in the partial oxidation of both propane and propylene to acrylic acid. Chemical analysis indicates that the composition of samples before and after the heat-treatment changes, especially the Te-content, since a significant amount of Te is lost during the heat-treatment step when the amount of oxalate (from niobium oxalate) increases in the synthesis gel.
