Collective features of Cr and Fe isotopes
2014
The question of the sudden increase of collectivity in neutron-rich nuclei when approaching N = 40 has recently interested both experimentalists and theorists. In this paper we study the development of collectivity along the chromium and iron isotopic chains. The calculations are performed within two different perspectives, namely, the proton-neutron interacting boson model (IBM-2) and interacting shell model (ISM) and compared with the available experimental data. The onset of collectivity is studied through nuclear quantities and observables that suggest differences in the nuclear structure of Cr and Fe isotopical chains. Furthermore, a prediction for the shape transition from a spherical…
Hapten Synthesis and Polyclonal Antibody-Based Immunoassay Development for the Analysis of Forchlorfenuron in Kiwifruit
2010
High-affinity polyclonal antibodies directed against the synthetic cytokinin forchlorfenuron (CPPU) were produced from three immunizing haptens with equivalent spacer arms located at different positions. A competitive immunoassay was developed with a limit of detection in buffer of 12.42 +/- 3.06 ng/L. In addition, the ability of the produced antibodies to recognize a set of synthetic CPPU analogues was studied. It was evidenced that the linker position had a strong impact on the specificity of the generated polyclonals, which were more sensitive to changes at moieties of the target analyte located furthest from the derivatization site of the immunogen. Finally, matrix effects of gold and g…
Cytoskeletal stabilization of inhibitory interactions in immunologic synapses of mature human dendritic cells with natural killer cells
2011
Abstract Human mature dendritic cells (DCs) can efficiently stimulate natural killer (NK)–cell responses without being targeted by their cytotoxicity. To understand this important regulatory crosstalk, we characterized the development of the immunologic synapse between mature DCs and resting NK cells. Conjugates between these 2 innate leukocyte populations formed rapidly, persisted for prolonged time periods and matured with DC-derived f-actin polymerization at the synapse. Polarization of IL-12 and IL-12R to the synapse coincided with f-actin polymerization, while other activating and inhibitory molecules were enriched at the interface between DCs and NK cells earlier. Functional assays re…
Identification of a Dynein Interacting Domain in the Papillomavirus Minor Capsid Protein L2
2006
ABSTRACT Papillomaviruses enter cells via endocytosis (H. C. Selinka et al., Virology 299:279-287, 2002). After egress from endosomes, the minor capsid protein L2 accompanies the viral DNA to the nucleus and subsequently to the subnuclear promyelocytic leukemia protein bodies (P. M. Day et al., Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA 101:14252-14257, 2004), suggesting that this protein may be involved in the intracytoplasmic transport of the viral genome. We now demonstrate that the L2 protein is able to interact with the microtubule network via the motor protein dynein. L2 protein was found attached to microtubules after uncoating of incoming human papillomavirus pseudovirions. Based on immunofluoresce…

Grouping facilitates avoidance of parasites by fish
2013
Background. Parasite distribution is often highly heterogeneous, and intensity of infection depends, among other things, on how well hosts can avoid areas with a high concentration of parasites. We studied the role of fish behaviour in avoiding microhabitats with a high infection risk using Oncorhynchus mykiss and cercariae of Diplostomum pseudospathaceum as a model. Spatial distribution of parasites in experimental tanks was highly heterogeneous. We hypothesized that fish in groups are better at recognizing a parasitized area and avoiding it than solitary fish. Methods. Number of fish, either solitary or in groups of 5, was recorded in different compartments of a shuttle tank where fish co…
PENGARUH MODAL USAHA DAN LAMA MELAUT, TERHADAP HARGA JUAL IKAN PADA PASAR TRADISIONAL SANGGENG MANOKWARI
2019
The purpose of this study was to measure the effect of venture capital (X1) and the long time at sea /time work hours (X2) for the offer price of fish (Y) in the tradisional sanggeng market manokwari, with 73 respondents chosen randomly and consisted of sellers and buyers in the sanggeng market.
Data collection methods are done through interviews, (primary data) with a questionnaire and then carried out a questionnaire test and test the quality of the data, and then analyzed uiple linear regression.
The result of research simultan eously or statistically partial variables X1 (venture capital) and variable X2 (long sea) significantly influence the higt selling price of …
Timing effect of intramyocardial hydrogel injection for positively impacting left ventricular remodeling after myocardial infarction
2015
Intramyocardial injection of various injectable hydrogel materials has shown benefit in positively impacting the course of left ventricular (LV) remodeling after myocardial infarction (MI). However, since LV remodeling is a complex, time dependent process, the most efficacious time of hydrogel injection is not clear. In this study, we injected a relatively stiff, thermoresponsive and bioabsorbable hydrogel in rat hearts at 3 different time points - immediately after MI (IM), 3 d post-MI (3D), and 2 w post-MI (2W), corresponding to the beginnings of the necrotic, fibrotic and chronic remodeling phases. The employed left anterior descending coronary artery ligation model showed expected infar…
The hydration enthalpies of Md3+ and Lr3+
1988
Lawrencium (3-min 260Lr) and lighter actinides were produced in the bombardment of a 249Bk target with 18O ions and loaded onto a cation exchange column in 0.05 M α-hydroxyisobutyrate solution at pH=4.85, together with the radioactive lanthanide tracers 166Ho, 171Er and 171Tm. In elutions with 0.12 M α=hydroxyisobutyrate solution (pH=4.85), trivalent Lr was eluted exactly together with the Er tracer and Md was eluted close to Ho. Lr elutes much later than expected based on the known elution positions of the lighter actinides and the expected analogy to the elution positions of the homologous lanthanides. From the measured elution positions, ionic radii were calculated for Lr3+ and Md3+. Sem…
Lawrencium chemistry: no evidence for oxidation states lower than 3+ in aqueous solution
1988
Lawrencium (3-min 260Lr) together with other actinides, was produced in the bombardment of a 249Bk target with 18O ions. There was no sign of a reduction of Lr3+ in dilute hydrochloric acid by V2+ or Cr2+, although in the same experiments, Md3+ was reduced to Md2+ (E°=−0.2 V). The resulting limit for the reduction potential of the Lr3+/Lr1(2)+ couple is E° < −0.44 V.
