Fatigue of the vastus lateralis muscle was studied in healthy well-conditioned students, who differed considerable regarding their muscle fibre type distribution. Neutral endopeptidase (NEP) and angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) are involved in neuropeptide degradation and may modulate neurogenic inflammation. We therefore explored the effect of specific blockers of NEP and ACE on the intensity of neurogenic inflammation. We investigated eight subjects on three occasions. OBJECTIVES To investigate the significance of the ice water test in patients with multiple sclerosis and to evaluate a novel ice water test nomogram in a large patient cohort. METHODS A total of 201 ice water tests of patients with multiple sclerosis were retrospectively evaluated. Incontinence episodes in 24 h and sex were correlated with the ice water test. Background Celiac disease (CD) diagnosis is becoming more difficult as patients with no intestinal histology lesions may also be suffering from CD. Aim To evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of antiendomysium (EmA) assay in the culture medium of intestinal biopsies for CD diagnosis. Patients and methods The clinical charts of 418 patients with CD and 705 non-CD controls who had all undergone EmA assay in the culture medium were reviewed. Relaxation induced by milrinone and rolipram in human penile arteries and veins

Abstract We studied the relaxant effects of milrinone, an inhibitor of phosphodiesterase 3, and rolipram, an inhibitor of phosphodiesterase 4, on contracted human penile dorsal artery and deep dorsal vein. Vascular rings from 12 multi-organ donors were suspended in organ baths for isometric recording of tension. Both milrinone and rolipram inhibited (100%) the contraction induced by noradrenaline and shifted the relaxation–response curves to the cAMP forming agents prostaglandin E1 and forskolin to the left. The findings indicate that the cAMP pathway appears to be a main determinant of relaxation in human penile vessels.
