Phase Equilibria Involved in Extractive Distillation of Dipropyl Ether + 1-Propyl Alcohol Using N,N-Dimethylformamide as Entrainer
2007
Consistent vapor−liquid equilibrium data for the binary and ternary systems dipropyl ether (1) + 1-propyl alcohol (2) + N,N-dimethylformamide (3) are reported at 101.3 kPa. The results indicate that dipropyl ether (1) + N,N-dimethylformamide (3) system exhibits a positive deviation from ideal behavior and that 1-propyl alcohol (2) + N,N-dimethylformamide (3) system deviates negatively from ideality. The activity coefficients of the solutions were correlated by the Wilson, NRTL, and UNIQUAC models. It is shown that these models allow a very good prediction of the phase equilibrium of the ternary system using the pertinent parameters of the binary systems. In addition, the Wisniak−Tamir relat…
Vapor−Liquid Equilibria for the Binary Systems Isobutanol with m-Xylene, o-Xylene and p-Xylene at 101.3 kPa
1999
Vapor−liquid equilibria were measured for binary systems of isobutanol with m-xylene, o-xylene, and p-xylene at 101.3 kPa using a recirculating still. The accuracy of experimental measurements was ±0.1 K in temperature, ±0.01 kPa in pressure, and ±0.001 in mole fraction. The results were determined to be thermodynamically consistent according to the point-to-point consistency and Wisniak tests. All the systems show moderate positive deviations from ideality. The data were correlated with five liquid-phase activity coefficient models (Margules, Van Laar, Wilson, NRTL, UNIQUAC).
Isobaric vapor–liquid equilibria for the binary systems isobutyl alcohol+isobutyl acetate and tert-butyl alcohol+tert-butyl acetate at 20 and 101.3kPa
2005
Abstract New consistent vapor–liquid equilibrium data for the binary systems isobutyl alcohol (IBA) + isobutyl acetate (IBAc) and tert-butyl alcohol (TBA) + tert-butyl acetate (TBAc) are reported at 20 and 101.3 kPa. The IBA + IBAc system, which deviates positively from ideal behavior, can be described as symmetric solution and presents azeotrope at both pressures. The TBA + TBAc system shows positive deviations from ideal behavior and presents azeotrope only at 20 kPa. The activity coefficients and boiling points of the solutions were correlated with their composition by the Wilson, UNIQUAC, NRTL and Wisniak–Tamir equations.
Child specific activation in left auditory cortex predicts behavioral performance in inhibition tasks
2020
Sensory processing during development is important for the emerging cognitive skills underlying goal-directed behavior. Yet, it is not known how auditory processing in children is related to their cognitive functions. Here, we utilized combined magneto- and electroencephalographic (M/EEG) measurements to show that child-unique auditory cortical activity at ∼250 ms after auditory stimulation predicts the performance in inhibition tasks. While unaffected by task demands, the amplitude of the left-hemisphere activation pattern was significantly correlated with the variability of behavioral response time. Since this activation pattern is not present in adults, our results suggest divergent brai…
Die bestimmung von sedimentationskoeffizient, diffusions-koeffizient und molekulargewicht von α-amylasen nach der methode des aktivitätstransportes
1965
Abstract Sedimentation and diffusion coefficients determined by optical methods on pure (crystallized) enzymes are compared with those obtained by activity measurements on the unpurified enzymes. On performing the experiments under suitable conditions, results of the two methods are in good agreement. The calculation of the molecular weights of the unpurified enzymes is somewhat uncertain because the partial specific volume in most cases is not accurately known.
DO FLEXIBLE AND TENACIOUS GOAL PURSUIT ALLEVIATE THE INFLUENCES OF FUNCTIONAL DECLINE TO ACTIVITY PARTICIPATION?
2018
Assimilative and accommodative coping strategies have hardly been studied in relation to activity participation when facing functional decline. We investigated whether tenacious goal pursuit (TGP) and flexible goal adjustment (FGA) influence the association between physical or cognitive performance, and physical activity or participation in other hobbies. Participants were 78-93-year-old community-dwelling people (n=187). TGP and FGA were self-evaluated with distinct scales (ranges 5–25). Physical performance was assessed with Short Physical Performance Battery (SPPB; 0–12) and cognitive performance with Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE; 0–30). Physical activity (0–5) and participation i…

Mobile Phone Data Statistics as Proxy Indicator for Regional Economic Activity Assessment
2019
The mobile data analysis is an authoritative source of information for problems solving in the fields of human activity recognition, population dynamics, tourism, transport planning, traffics measuring, public administration and other activities and could be the source for valuable information as a proxy indicator. One of the obstacles to user data from mobile operators is compliance to the General Data Protection Regulation, so the development of data analytics approach that protects personal data without a necessity to identify mobility of particular persons was developed, that still provides economically relevant data. In the present research, the method for the economic activity assessm…

ActRec: A Wi-Fi-Based Human Activity Recognition System
2020
In this paper, we develop a Wi-Fi-based activity recognition system called ActRec, which can be used for the remote monitoring of elderly. ActRec comprises two parts: radio-frequency (RF) sensing and machine learning. In the RF sensing part, two laptops act as transmitter and receiver to record the channel transfer function of an indoor environment. This RF data is collected in the presence of seven human participants performing three activities: walking, falling, and sitting. The RF data containing the fingerprints of user activity is then pre-processed with various signal processing algorithms to reduce noise effects and to estimate the mean Doppler shift (MDS) of each data sample. We pro…
