Reliability and Validity of The Finnish Version of The Boston Carpal Tunnel Questionnaire among Surgically Treated Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Patients

Background and Aims: The Boston Carpal Tunnel Questionnaire is the most commonly used outcome measure in the assessment of carpal tunnel syndrome. The purpose of this study was to translate the original Boston Carpal Tunnel Questionnaire into Finnish and validate its psychometric properties. Materials and Methods: We translated and culturally adapted the Boston Carpal Tunnel Questionnaire into Finnish. Subsequently, 193 patients completed the Finnish version of the Boston Carpal Tunnel Questionnaire, 6-Item CTS Symptoms Scale, and EuroQol 5 Dimensions 12 months after carpal tunnel release. Investigations on the geographical variability of the human transferrins.

On the basis of own and from the widely scattered literature compiled materials the geographical distribution of the transferrin alleles is discussed. They reveal a characteristic distribution pattern, as the slow Tf variants produced by TfD alleles are obviously more frequent in tropical than in non-tropical populations. Considering similar results in cattle and its interpretation by Ashton (1958, 1965), it is hypothesized, that the relatively high TfΓ frequencies in tropical biotops might be a selective adaptation to their special climatic conditions. Genetic-dependency of peroxisomal cell functions - emerging aspects

This paper reviews aspects concerning the genetic regulation of the expression of the well studied peroxisomal genes including those of fatty acid beta-oxidation enzymes; acyl-CoA oxidase, multifunctional enzyme and thiolase from different tissues and species. Design of a customized pattern for improving color constancy across camera and illumination changes

International audience; This paper adresses the problem of color constancy on a large image database acquired with varying digital cameras and lighting conditions. Automatic white balance control proposed by an available commercial camera is not sufficient to provide reproducible color classification. A device-independent color representation may be obtained by applying a chromatic adaptation transform, from a calibrated color checker pattern included in the field of view. Climate change, vulnerability and the local adaptation strategies of food enterprises in Finland

This chapter discusses vulnerability and the adaptation strategies of Finnish food supply chains in the context of climate change. A case study was conducted in 2012 within three Finnish regions. The people interviewed were food entrepreneurs, the managers of food enterprises and relevant stakeholders. According to the study, food enterprises seem to trust local and decentralised food supply chains as an adaptation strategy for combating climate change. Hence, the case study discusses the benefits and learning challenges of food supply chain localisation and introduces the idea of food supply chains that react proactively to climate change issues. nonPeerReviewed
