Three-page encoding and complexity theory for spatial graphs

We construct a series of finitely presented semigroups. The centers of these semigroups encode uniquely up to rigid ambient isotopy in 3-space all non-oriented spatial graphs. This encoding is obtained by using three-page embeddings of graphs into the product of the line with the cone on three points. By exploiting three-page embeddings we introduce the notion of the three-page complexity for spatial graphs. This complexity satisfies the properties of finiteness and additivity under natural operations.

A CNDO/2 study on the additivity and the nature of the non-additivity of the substituent effects on13C NMR shifts in chlorobenzenes and chlorophenols

The general correlation between the electron densities and the 13C NMR chemical shifts is found to be quite poor in the cases discussed. The non-additivities of the substituent effects on the chemical shifts and the CNDO/2 electron densities correlate only weakly. However, when the electron densities are made specific to different types of atomic orbitals, the s electrons have a pronounced effect in all the models tested. This is explained by an indirect effect on the 〈1/r3〉 term of the p electrons. Uncertainty measures—Problems concerning additivity

Additivity of an uncertainty measure on an MV-algebra has a clear meaning. If the divisibility is dropped, we come up to a so-called Girard algebra. There we discuss strong resp. weak additivity based on so-called divisible disjoint unions resp. on additivity for all sub-MV-algebras. We obtain a description of those extensions from additive measures on an MV-algebra to the canonical Girard algebra extension of pairs which are strongly additive and valuation measures. Finally, we prove the non-existence of strongly additive measure extensions, if the underlying MV-algebra is a finite chain with more than two non-trivial elements.

A macroscale FEM-based approach for selective laser sintering of thermoplastics

A numerical approach to model the selective laser sintering (SLS) of polypropylene is proposed. A 3D thermal model was developed and thus enables the prediction of the temperature fields and the extension of the sintered area in the powder bed taking into account the phase change during multiple laser passes. Powder–liquid, liquid–solid and solid–liquid phase changes were modelled during the SLS and the subsequent cooling processes. International audience; The transfer of small analytes in a multiphasic stirred fruit yoghurt model, made of a pectin gel aimed to mimic fruit pieces and of a dairy gel done with milk acidified by glucono-δ-lactone hydrolysis, have been studied. The concentration gradients between the pectin gel and the dairy gel were the driving force for the migration of small analytes (i.e. water, protons and colorants).
