A vinyl chloride-exposed worker with an adrenal gland angiosarcoma: a case report.
2013
Adrenal epithelioidangiosarcoma (AEA) is a rare neoplasm that accounts for less than 1% of sarcomas. Due to its rarity, it can easily be misdiagnosed, both by the clinician and the pathologist. Data on the patient's occupational history was collected and analyzed. The bibliographic data was found on the PUBMED bibliographic search site after entering the word "extrahepaticangiosarcoma". We report a case of adrenal epithelioidangiosarcoma (AEA) in a 68 yr-old Caucasian male factory worker exposed to Vinyl Chloride (VC) for 15 yr. He underwent surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Hepatic angiosarcoma is a known consequence of VC exposure, but occupational causality of extra-hepatic angiosa…
Time course of development of transtubular sodium concentration differences in proximal surface tubules of the rat kidney. Micropuncture experiments …
1969
Int the proximal and distal surface tubules isotonic Na reabsorption (Φ Naout) is impaired by adrenalectomy. In the present experiments the time course of development of transtubular Na concentration differences (Na)P−(Na)TF was studied in the proximal convolution. 1. Na concentration was measured in free flow mannitol diuresis. Endproximal (Na)P−(Na)TF averaged 23.0±0.5 meq/l after 8.5±0.6 sec (controls) and 15.2±1.7 meq/l after 13.6±0.5 sec (adrenalectomized rats). 2. In modified stopped flow experiments tubular fluid, aspirated at the beginning of the proximal convolution in mannitol diuresis, was injected between two oil columnes and reaspirated after 28–36 sec of contact time. (Na)P−(N…
A Case of Stage IV Chromophobe Renal Cell Carcinoma Treated with the Oncolytic ECHO-7 Virus, Rigvir®
2019
Patient: Male, 59 Final Diagnosis: Chromophobe renal cell carcinoma, stage IV Symptoms: Discomfort in the right hypochondrium Medication: Oncolytic virus Rigvir Clinical Procedure: Nephro-adrenalectomy Specialty: Oncology Objective: Unusual or unexpected effect of treatment Background: Renal cell carcinoma is the most commonly diagnosed primary malignant tumor of the kidney in adults, and includes the variant of chromophobe renal cell carcinoma. Despite new targeted therapies that improve progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) for early-stage renal cell carcinoma, the 5-year survival for patients with stage IV renal cell carcinoma remains below 10%, and the 50% OS is less…
Adrenal myelolipoma associated with adenoma
2004
The association of an adrenal myelolipoma with a non-functioning adenoma is very rare. Herein, we report on such a case in an asymptomatic 64-year-old woman. To the best of our knowledge, there is only one other case of non-functioning adrenocortical adenoma associated with myelolipoma in the same gland. Furthermore, only two other adenomas (mineral corticoids and corticosteroid producing tumors) associated with myelolipomas have been reported, and both myelolipomas were less than 1 cm in size. In conclusion, the 8.5 cm myelolipoma in our case is the largest compared with the three previously reported ones.
Colorimetric detection of normetanephrine, a pheochromocytoma biomarker, using bifunctionalised gold nanoparticles.
2019
[EN] A simple and effective colorimetric method for the detection of normetanephrine (NMN), an O-methylated metabolite of norepinephrine, using functionalised gold nanoparticles is described. This metabolite is an important biomarker in the diagnosis of adrenal tumours such as pheocromocytoma or paraganglioma. The colorimetric probe consists of spherical gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) functionalised with two different ligands, which specifically recognize different functional groups in normetanephrine. Thus, a benzaldehyde-terminated ligand was used for the recognition of the amino alcohol moiety in NMN, by forming the corresponding oxazolidine. On the other hand, N-acetyl-cysteine was chosen f…

Ziliarkörpermetastase als Ersthinweis auf ein kleinzelliges Bronchialkarzinom1
2000
BACKGROUND About 3-10% of patients suffering from metastatic disease develop metastatic choroidal tumors. In this case report ocular symptoms were the first sign of a systemic malignancy. CASE REPORT A 65-year old man complained of an increasing painful redness of his left eye. He showed a white mass with 10 mm in thickness in the temporal chamber angle with "pseudohypopyon" and secondary glaucoma. Because of increasing pain the eye was removed. Histologic examination showed a small cell carcinoma of the ciliary body with high malignancy, which most probably has to be seen as a metastasis of a carcinoma of the lung, which was detected by internal examination concurrently. In addition, a met…
The intermediate role of 18-hydroxycorticosteroids in aldosterone biosynthesis.
1968
The region 0.7615-0.796 m.u. of the HSV-1 genome determines suppression of humoral antibody formation against herpes simplex virus.
1991
The influence of genetic properties of parts of the HSV-1 genome on suppression of humoral antibody formation was investigated by using intratypic recombinants. The deleted strain HFEM (HSV-1) induces suppression. The MluI DNA fragment (coordinates 0.7615–0.796 m.u.) derived from the antibody inducing strain F1 (HSV-1) was transfected into the deleted strain HFEM to produce the recombinant virus R-MlCI and shown to restore antibody formation, as demonstrated by neutralization- and ELISA-tests. The intratypic recombinant viruses R-15, R-19 and R-26, produced by transfection of the Bam HI DNA-fragment B (0.738–0.809 m.u.) of strain Fl into the deleted strain HFEM, resulted in antibody formati…
