Objective: A number of epidemiologic studies evaluated the prevalence of allergic rhinitis (AR), but few data are available on its different clinical presentations. We addressed this survey to assess the features of AR in children and adolescents. Methods: Thirty-five centers in Italy included 2623 pediatric patients with rhinitis, of whom 2319 suffered from AR, while 304 had other kinds of rhinitis. AbstractThe activity of the light (L) chain of tetanus toxin, and of mutants constructed by site-directed mutagenesis, was studied by expression and purification of the proteins from E. coli. Wild-type recombinant L chain (pTet87) was active in the inhibition of exocytosis from cultured bovine adrenal chromaffin cells, although at a level 5–15% of that of L chain purified from tetanus toxin. L chain mutants which terminated at Leu-438 (pTet89), or which contained a Cys-to-Ser mutation at residue 439 (pTet88) were equally as active as the full-length recombinant protein. In 1982, the term "incidentaloma" was introduced to indicate lesions detected on adrenal regions, found unexpectedly. The aim of this study is to evaluate the results of laparoscopic adrenalectomy in a single centre. Methods: We reviewed clinical data on 32 adrenalectomies performed at our istitution from 2009 to 2012. The average age of patients was 47 years (range 38-68); 18 were men and 14 women. The influence of genetic properties of parts of the HSV-1 genome on suppression of humoral antibody formation was investigated by using intratypic recombinants. The deleted strain HFEM (HSV-1) induces suppression. The MluI DNA fragment (coordinates 0.7615–0.796 m.u.) derived from the antibody inducing strain F1 (HSV-1) was transfected into the deleted strain HFEM to produce the recombinant virus R-MlCI and shown to restore antibody formation, as demonstrated by neutralization- and ELISA-tests.
