EXPLORING 35-44 YEAR OLD MEN’S HEALTH BEHAVIOUR: A QUALITATIVE PERSPECTIVE

Upon reaching 35-44 year of age, men experience their first health problems, often because of an unhealthy way of life e.g., smoking, physical inactivity, unhealthy nutrition habits, etc. In comparison with other age groups, these men rarely look for medical help, thus, opening themselves up to a number of potentially negative consequences e.g. health risks in future. Ancient Haplotypes at the 15q24.2 Microdeletion Region Are Linked to Brain Expression of MAN2C1 and Children's Intelligence

The chromosome bands 15q24.1-15q24.3 contain a complex region with numerous segmental duplications that predispose to regional microduplications and microdeletions, both of which have been linked to intellectual disability, speech delay and autistic features. The region may also harbour common inversion polymorphisms whose functional and phenotypic manifestations are unknown. Using an extended version of the theory of planned behaviour to predict smoking cessation in two age groups

The aim of this study was twofold: (i) to test the utility of the theory of planned behaviour (TPB) in predicting intentions to quit smoking and subsequent behaviour in two age groups, and among women and men, and (ii) to examine whether descriptive norms, moral norms and past behaviour predict intentions and behaviour beyond the impact of the TPB components. Analyses were based on data from a prospective sample of 447 daily smokers (adolescents 16–19 years, n = 174, M = 17.5, adults 35–55 years, n  =  311, M  =  44 years). Light intensity preference of juvenile pikeperch Sander lucioperca (L.)

Light intensity preference of the pikeperch was tested in 1-m2 tanks divided into four lateral compartments with a hole in the middle to allow the fish to move between compartments. Two experiments were carried out with both 0+ and 1+ pikeperch: one testing intensities from 25 to 300 lx and the other from 1 to 50 lx. Light preference was observed individually for 5 days at 8, 11, 14 and 17 h. On the first and fifth day, the preference was tested without differences in light intensity (control). In both experiments, both age groups showed preference for the lowest available light intensity. A cross-sectional, prospective, between-subjects design was used in this study to establish the differences in sensory reweighting of postural control among different ages during adolescence. A total of 153 adolescents (five age groups; 13–17 years old) performed bipedal standing in three sensory conditions (i.e., with visual restriction, vestibular disturbance, and proprioceptive disturbance). Procrastination, Distress and Life Satisfaction across the Age Range – A German Representative Community Study

Addressing the lack of population-based data the purpose of this representative study was to assess procrastination and its associations with distress and life satisfaction across the life span. A representative German community sample (1,350 women; 1,177 men) between the ages of 14 and 95 years was examined by the short form of the General Procrastination Scale (GPS-K; 1) and standardized scales of perceived stress, depression, anxiety, fatigue and life satisfaction.
