A critical analysis of a thermal inertia approach to map surface soil water content on bare and sparsely vegetated soils by means of remotely sensed data is reported. The study area is an experimental field located in Barrax, Spain. In situ data were acquired within the Barrax 2011 research project. An advanced hyperspectral scanner airborne imager provides images in the visible/near-infrared and thermal infrared bands. Mental fatigue is a common phenomenon with implicit and multidimensional properties. It brings dynamic changes of functional brain networks. However, the challenging problem of false positives appears when the connectivity is estimated by Electroencephalography (EEG). In this paper, we propose a novel framework based on spatial clustering to explore the sources of mental fatigue and functional activity changes caused by them. To suppress the false positive observations, spatial clustering is implemented in brain networks. Spray nozzle characterization using high speed imaging techniques

International audience; Spray characteristics play an important role in the application accuracy and efficiency of plant protection products. In this study, the spray angles, liquid sheet lengths and spray shapes of five hydraulic spray nozzles (Albuz ATR orange, Albuz ATR red, TeeJet XR 110 01, TeeJet XR 110 04 and TeeJet AI 110 04) were measured using a developed high speed imaging system. Results were compared with the results of existing measuring techniques using a flow rate test bench, a horizontal patternator and a Phase Doppler Particle Analyzer (PDPA) laser.

Prognostic value of HSP27 in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma: a retrospective analysis of 57 tumours.

Background: The aims of the present study were to assess the prevalence of HSP27 expression in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) and to verify whether HSP27 can be considered to be a marker of prognosis in patients with OSCC. Materials and Methods: The immunohistochemical expression of HSP27 was evaluated in 57 OSCC, who received standard treatment and monitoring. After grouping for HSP27 expression, OSCCs were statistically analysed for the variables age, gender, histological grading, TNM, staging and survival rate. The close classical T Tauri binary V4046 Sgr: Complex magnetic fields & distributed mass accretion

We report here the first results of a multi-wavelength campaign focussing on magnetospheric accretion processes within the close binary system V4046 Sgr, hosting two partly-convective classical T Tauri stars of masses ~0.9 Msun and age ~12 Myr. In this paper, we present time-resolved spectropolarimetric observations collected in 2009 September with ESPaDOnS at the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope (CFHT) and covering a full span of 7d or ~2.5 orbital/rotational cycles of V4046 Sgr. Prognozy demograficzne GUS pokazują, że do 2035 r. subpopulacja ludzi mających 65 lat i więcej w Polsce wzrośnie o 62% w porównaniu do 2010 r., natomiast subpopulacja ludzi mających 80 lat i więcej wzrośnie w tym samym okresie aż o 96%. Celem artykułu jest diagnoza wybranych zasobów opieki geriatrycznej w sytuacji postępującego starzenia się społeczeństwa wsi i miast w Polsce.
