Maģistra darbā „BJC „Daugmale” iespējas brīvā laika izraisīto risku mazināšanā bērnu un jauniešu socializācijas procesā” tika pētītas Brīvā laika centra un Spēļu istabas iespējas brīvā laika izraisīto risku mazināšanā. Lai izpētītu šīs iespējas vispirms tika raksturots socializācijas process, tad aprakstīti riski ar kādiem var saskarties bērni un jaunieši, kā arī aprakstīts brīvā laika jēdziens un tā nozīmība katra indivīda personības veidošanās procesā. Pētījuma mērķis: Izpētīt saistību starp uztverto stresu, apmierinātību ar dzīvi un dažādu brīvā laika fiziskās aktivitātes pieredzi vēlīnā briedumā. Teorētiskais pamatojums balstās pētnieku atziņās, ka viena no veselīga dzīvesveida uzvedībām, kas saistīta ar apmierinātību ar dzīvi, ir fiziskā aktivitāte (Penedo & Dahn, 2005). Psychophysical burden and lack of support : Reasons for care workers’ intentions to leave their work in the Nordic countries

Long-term care of older adults is currently suffering from a shortage of trained personnel and high turnover rates. Care work is poorly paid, demanding, increasingly time-bound and both mentally and physically burdensome. In this study, we examined the individual, organisational and economic factors that predict professional care workers’ intentions to leave their current employment, using the NORDCARE survey data (2015, N = 3801) collected in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. Piia Silvennoinen tutki väitöskirjassaan, millainen merkitys työvoimapoliittisella koulutuksella on ikääntyvien pitkäaikaistyöttömien elämässä. Koulutusten oletetaan parantavan ikääntyvien pitkäaikaistyöttömien työmarkkinakelpoisuutta ja elämänhallintaa. Silvennoinen haki vastausta siihen, miten ikääntyvät pitkäaikaistyöttömät itse suhtautuvat työvoimapoliittisiin koulutuksiin; onko niistä heille haittaa vai hyötyä. Maģistra darba mērķis bija noskaidrot, kādas ir laika perspektīvas faktoru saistības ar bērnībā piedzīvotās vardarbības veidiem uz ilgstošu laiku (virs 8 gadiem) notiesātiem vīriešiem; kā arī, kā kopējais piespriestais soda termiņš, izciestais sods ieslodzījuma vietā un bērnības vardarbības pieredze ietekmē laika perspektīvas faktorus. Respondenti: pētījumā piedalījās 63 notiesāti vīrieši, kuri atrodas šobrīd ieslodzījumā un kuru piespriestais soda termiņš ir 8 un vairāk gadi. Regular physical activity (PA) offers positive effects on the human body. However, the effects of PA on cognition and in the brain are less clear. In this paper, we narratively review the relationship of PA with cognition and dementia, first from general perspective and then through genetically informed studies on the topic. Then we move on to imaging studies on exercise and brain anatomy first by presenting an overall picture of the topic and then discussing brain imaging studies addressing PA and brain structure in twins in more detailed way. The article is a case study of several digitally based schemes recently operating in Finland where some functions and properties of money are evident. While working effectively as designed, they do not fully meet the criteria of a well-functioning community currency. The schemes include: sysmä, a digitally based hyperlocal system of account introduced by the rural Sysmä municipality; Pisteet kotiin®, a housing association points system in the city of Tampere, copied from a working Dutch model; BookMooch, a global book-swapping site that has extended its operations throughout Finland. Global current account imbalances and intra-euro area imbalances have been at the forefront of academic and policy debates for the last ten years. This thesis examines the determinants of current account balances and external adjustment. It consists of an introduction and four empirical studies. This thesis highlights the importance of institutional factors such as differences in national cultures and cross-country differences in the coordination of wage bargaining on external balances.
