The starting point of the analysis is the assumption (derived from beliefs common in pre-performative times) that every space (including a city’s territory) can be treated as a text. The Journey to the East of the Viking Ingvar the Far-Traveled is one of the events that fit into the history of medieval relations of the Scandinavians with the world of Byzantium. It was a fateful expedition taking place between 1036 and 1041, and to this day it is a source of many controversies and speculations of researchers. The findings of the present paper suggest that the journey did not necessarily proceed to the lands of the Saracens or Byzantium but may have been part of the game played by Constantinople with its ally Tmutarkan, which opposed Jaroslav the Wise, these events unfolding in the north-eastern waters of the Black Sea.

Il saggio analizza le suppellettili liturgiche d'argento dell'Eparchia di Piana degli Albanesi esposte alla mostra "Tracce d'Oriente", per lo più realizzate da argentieri palermitani del XVIII e XIX secolo. Le opere della liturgia greco-albanese vengono messe a confronto con quelle utilizzate per le celebrazioni di rito latino. The essay analyzes the silver liturgical furnishings of the Eparchy of Piana degli Albanesi exhibited at the exhibition "Tracce d'Oriente", mostly made by silversmiths from Palermo in the 18th and 19th centuries. The works of the Greek-Albanian liturgy are compared with those used for the Latin rite celebrations.

Albanian emigration was a historic phenomenon which extended over a long period, and of which different countries of the inter-Adriatic area were the final destination. Besides different regions in present-day Italy, Istria as well constituted a destination. The Albanians arrived there at the end of the 15th century. According to documents from archives, the Istrian settlement displays the connotations of similar migrations – though the latter were much more complex – across the Italian peninsula. Documents reflect the common organisational skills of various groups of migrants.
