Seasonal fluctuations in leaf phenolic composition under UV manipulations reflect contrasting strategies of alder and birch trees

Seasonal variation in leaf phenolic composition may be important for acclimation of plants to seasonal changes in their biotic and abiotic environment. For a realistic assessment of how plants respond to solar UV-B (280-315 nm) and UV-A (315-400 nm) radiation, seasonal variation in both environment and plant responses needs to be taken into account. Carbon partitioning in a walnut-maize agroforestry system through arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi

National audience; In tree-based intercropping systems, roots of trees and crops are interacting and could influence ecosystem services provided by soil microorganisms. Here, the analysis of diversity of arbuscular mycorrhiza fungi (AMF) associated with roots of walnut and maize reveals differences. Of interest, Funneliformis genus is mainly associated with maize roots, and one OTU related to an uncultured Glomus, might form a common mycorrhizal network linking roots of both plants. Utilization of lignin powder for manufacturing self-binding HDF

Abstract The preparation of self-binding lignocellulosic fibreboards has been investigated. Different high-density fibreboards (HDF) were hot-pressed based on a mixture of grey alder (Alnus incana L. Nutritional status and all-cause mortality in older adults with acute coronary syndrome.

Background & aims The present analysis investigated the prevalence and the prognostic implication of nutritional status in older adults hospitalized for acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Methods The analysis is based on older ACS patients included in the FRASER and LONGEVO SCA studies. The Global Risk of Acute Coronary Events (GRACE) risk score was computed in all patients.
