In this study we examine the influence of intraoperative intravenous (i.v.) clonidine infusion on postoperative analgesia and blood concentrations of noradrenaline and adrenaline after major gynaecological surgery. Background: Tramadol hydrochloride (HCl) and ketorolac tromethamine are analgesic drugs, which are commonly used in combination in postoperative pain management. According to some studies, metoclopramide and magnesium sulfate (MgSO4 ) as adjuvant agents can improve analgesia and decrease the need for other pain drugs. Materials and Methods: The chemical stability of tramadol HCl combined with ketorolac tromethamine and metoclopramide HCl has been studied using a stability-indicating high-performance liquid chromatographic assay method. Opioid switching from and to tapentadol extended release in cancer patients: conversion ratio with other opioids

Objectives: The aim of this exploratory study was to assess the conversion ratios between tapentadol and other opioids in patients requiring an opioid switching. Methods: A prospective study was carried out in a convenience sample of consecutive patients admitted to an acute palliative care unit and a home care unit for a period of 1 year. Patients who were switched from/to tapentadol were selected. The initial ratio between tapentadol and other opioids, expressed as oral morphine equivalents was 1:3.3. Evaluation of the analgesic action of different fractions from the methanol extract of Teucrium buxifolium L

Different fractions (F-2, F-3, F-5) of the methanol extract from Teucrium buxifolium L. have been tested for their analgesic activity in mice. All of them exhibited peripheral analgesic activity except F-3, Fraction F-5 had the strongest effect and was subjected to a second re-extraction. Evaluation of the acute toxicity, analgesic and CNS activities of different species ofTeucrium genus

Methanol and dichloromethanol extracts of the leaves and stems of four Teucrium species (T. cartaginenses, T. flavum, T. pumillum and T. buxifolium) have been tested for their toxicity, analgesic and central depressor effects. The intraperitoneal administration of the different extracts showed a CNS depressant activity in mice, but they lacked anticonvulsive effects. When tested for analgesic activity none of the extracts increased the threshold of pain thermal stimulus. However, the methanol and dichloromethanol extracts of T. cartaginenses and T. buxifolium species showed a significant analgesic effect in models of pain induced by chemical or mechanical stimulation.
