Radó-Kneser-Choquet Theorem for simply connected domains (p-harmonic setting)

A remarkable result known as Rad´o-Kneser-Choquet theorem asserts that the harmonic extension of a homeomorphism of the boundary of a Jordan domain ⌦ ⇢ R2 onto the boundary of a convex domain Q ⇢ R2 takes ⌦ di↵eomorphically onto Q . Numerous extensions of this result for linear and nonlinear elliptic PDEs are known, but only when ⌦ is a Jordan domain or, if not, under additional assumptions on the boundary map. On the other hand, the newly developed theory of Sobolev mappings between Euclidean domains and Riemannian manifolds demands to extend this theorem to the setting on simply connected domains. Maximal function estimates and self-improvement results for Poincaré inequalities

Our main result is an estimate for a sharp maximal function, which implies a Keith–Zhong type self-improvement property of Poincaré inequalities related to differentiable structures on metric measure spaces. As an application, we give structure independent representation for Sobolev norms and universality results for Sobolev spaces. peerReviewed
Weighted norm inequalities in a bounded domain by the sparse domination method

AbstractWe prove a local two-weight Poincaré inequality for cubes using the sparse domination method that has been influential in harmonic analysis. The proof involves a localized version of the Fefferman–Stein inequality for the sharp maximal function. By establishing a local-to-global result in a bounded domain satisfying a Boman chain condition, we show a two-weight p-Poincaré inequality in such domains. As an application we show that certain nonnegative supersolutions of the p-Laplace equation and distance weights are p-admissible in a bounded domain, in the sense that they support versions of the p-Poincaré inequality.

Nowadays there are many social media sites with a very large number of users. Users of social media sites and relationships between them can be modelled as a graph. Such graphs can be analysed using methods from social network analysis (SNA). Many measures used in SNA rely on computation of shortest paths between nodes of a graph. There are many shortest path algorithms, but the majority of them suits only for small graphs, or work only with road network graphs that are fundamentally different from social graphs. Guaranteed and computable error bounds for approximations constructed by an iterative decoupling of the Biot problem

The paper is concerned with guaranteed a posteriori error estimates for a class of evolutionary problems related to poroelastic media governed by the quasi-static linear Biot equations. The system is decoupled by employing the fixed-stress split scheme, which leads to an iteratively solved semi-discrete system. The error bounds are derived by combining a posteriori estimates for contractive mappings with functional type error control for elliptic partial differential equations. The estimates are applicable to any approximation in the admissible functional space and are independent of the discretization method. Tutkielma käsittelee arjen kielellisiä esittämistapoja mediatekstien kontekstissa. Työn tarkoituksena on perehtyä arjen lingvistiseen kuvaukseen kahdessa eri naistenlehdessä, Kotiliedessä ja Kotivinkissä. Arjen kuvaamisen tapoja eli representaatioita tutkiva työ on toteutettu konstruktionistisen ja diskursiivisen kielikäsityksen kehyksessä. Tutkimuksen aihe on yhteiskunnallisesti ajankohtainen ja liittyy elämäntapavalinnoista käytävään keskusteluun. Representaatioita tutkiva työ keskittyy arjen ajan ja paikan kartoittamiseen. Suomessa ikääntyvä yhteiskunta ja hyvinvointivaltion rahoituskriisi haastavat nykyisen hoivapalvelujärjestelmän. Tähän haasteeseen pyritään osittain vastaamaan hallituksen kärkihankkeella, jossa kehitetään koti- ja omaishoitoa. Omaishoito asettuu julkisen ja yksityisen, hoivan ja työn välimaastoon ja se koskettaa erityisesti ikääntyneitä ja vammaisia henkilöitä. Tutkimuksessa selvitetään minkälaista huumoria Disneyn vuonna 2013 ilmestyneessä animaatioelokuvassa Frozen – Huurteinen seikkailu käytetään. Aineistona on suomenkielinen käännösversio. Aihe on mielenkiintoinen muun muassa sen vuoksi, että vaikka Disney-tutkimusta on aikaisemmin tehty paljon ja myös huumoria on näissä tarkasteltu, niin tuoreimmista elokuvista ja paljon puhuttaneesta Frozenista ei ole tältä osin juurikaan tutkimustietoa. The contemporary education paradigm highlights the interdependency of home and school expertise. This discourse analysis study examines the narrated agentive possibilities of 18 Finnish mothers of children diagnosed with ADHD to influence and be involved in their child's schooling. Mothers' strong involvement endeavor is premised on their expertise concerning ADHD, distrust of teachers' adequate knowledge of and attitude towards their child, and anxiety for their child's wellbeing.
