More Dubious Dead Sea Scrolls

2021

Abstract In the course of the last eighteen years more than 75 new “Dead Sea Scrolls” fragments have surfaced on the antiquities market. These are commonly referred to as post-2002 Dead Sea Scrolls-like fragments. A growing number of scholars regard a substantial part of them as forgeries. In this article, we will discuss four more dubious fragments, but this time from the 20th Century—or at least from pre-2002. Two of the fragments have been known since the late nineties and are published in the DJD series. One was published in Revue de Qumran (2003), and one in Gleanings from the Caves (2016). All four are today accepted as part of the Dead Sea Scrolls dataset even though they are unprove…

2010

Masteroppgave i historie- Universitetet i Agder 2010 This theses deals with the relation of state and church in 4th century Byzantium. The research has been conducted based on three individual sources, namely the works of Eusebius of Cæsarea, Codex Theodosianus and church buildings. the main question has been: How did relations between church and state develop in 4th century Byzantium, and how did this development affect the power and identity of the church? The relations between church and state were strengthened by the fact that they were dependent of each other. The state needed the church to create unity in the multiethnic Byzantine empire. The church needed the state promote the new re…

Debating Sound Money in Early Modern Europe: From Dualist to Metallic Monetary Systems

2019

International audience; In this paper, we present the monetary debates in Europe from the XVIth to the XVIIIth centuries from the viewpoint of the problem of good and sound money. The framework of the paper is built on a typology of monetary systems, by which a dualist system is distinguished from a metallic one. Under the dualist system, the value in units of account of the specie in circulation was defined by monetary proclamations (Einaudi locates this era from Charlemagne to the French Revolution). Metallist proponents aimed at preventing any kind of manipulations with a radical transformation of the system of payment, which gave birth to a metallic monetary system from the very end of …

L'anima degli animali. Aristotele, frammenti stoici, Plutarco, Porfirio

2015

E' lecito maltrattare gli animali? E mangiarli?

The verb semblar in old Catalan

2017

XIII i XIV).
