Effect of relative humidity on carvacrol release and permeation properties of chitosan based films and coating

2014

International audience; The influence of water vapour conditions on mass transport and barrier properties of chitosan based films and coatings were studied in relation to surface and structural properties. Water contact angles, material swelling, polymer degradation temperature, barrier properties (PO2, PCO2, WVP) and aroma diffusion coefficients were determined. The solvent nature and the presence of carvacrol influenced the surface and structural properties and then the barrier performance of activated chitosan films. Increasing RH from 0% to 100% led to a significant increase in material swelling. The plasticization effect of water was more pronounced at high humid environment, while at …

12C + 12C large angle elastic scattering at 240 MeV

2010

Abstract The measurement of the differential cross sections of the 12C + 12C and the 13C + 12C elastic scattering are carried out at the 12C energy 240 MeV and the 13C energy 250 MeV to solve some interpretation problem of the 12C + 12C scattering data. Is it possible that the 1st Airy minimum in 12C + 12C scattering data is missing? Our analysis shows that the positions of the 1st Airy minima obtained in former measurements are confirmed.

Molecular shape analysis based upon the morse-smale complex and the connolly function

2003

Docking is the process by which two or several molecules form a complex. Docking involves the geometry of the molecular surfaces, as well as chemical and energetical considerations. In the mid-eighties, Connolly proposed a docking algorithm matching surface knobs with surface depressions. Knobs and depressions refer to the extrema of the Connolly function, which is defined as follows. Given a surface M bounding a three-dimensional domain X, and a sphere S centered at a point p of M, the Connolly function is equal to the solid angle of the portion of S containing within X.We recast the notions of knobs and depressions in the framework of Morse theory for functions defined over two-dimensiona…

Dynamics of a Spreading Nanodroplet: A Molecular Dynamic Simulation

2003

The spreading of polymer nanodroplets upon a sudden change from partial to complete wetting on an ideally flat and structureless solid substrate has been studied by molecular dynamic simulations using a coarse-grained bead-spring model of flexible macromolecules. Tanner's law for the growth of the lateral droplet radius {R(f) t 0.1 } is found to hold as long as the droplet does not disintegrate into individually moving chains. The data for the contact angle θ following from Tanner's law correspond to a dependence on time {θ(t) t -0.3 }. Our analysis of the mean square displacements of the polymer centers of mass reveals several dynamic regimes during the process of spreading. PACS numbers: …

Mehrsegmentale Fusion der Skoliose bei Duchenne-Muskeldystrophie

2008

Operations in scoliosis in patients suffering from an advanced stage of Duchenne muscular dystrophy are associated with a higher risk due to the extent of the curves, the respiratory insufficiency and frequent cardiomyopathia. Progressive scolioses in 20 wheelchair patients with an age between 10.5-18.3 years (mean 14.6 years) were treated by CDI. The mean preoperative angle in this group was 70.6 degrees, the postoperative angle 31.2 degrees (mean correction 39.4 degrees or 55.8%). The preoperative lordosis of the lumbar spine (mean angle 4.1 degrees) was corrected to 17.8 degrees postoperatively. The average intraoperative blood loss (2300 ccm) was evident more compared with idiopathic sc…

A non-linear Ritz method for progressive failure analysis of variable angle tow composite laminates

2022

A Ritz formulation for non-linear analysis of damage initiation and evolution in variable angle tow composite plates under progressive loading is presented. The model is built on a few key items. It assumes first order shear deformation theory kinematics and non-liner strains in the von Karman sense. The constitutive relationships are formulated in the framework of continuum damage mechanics at the ply level, so that each laminate layer can experience in-plane damage initiation and evolution, then reflected in material softening and loss of local stiffness. A Ritz polynomial expansion of the primary variables and the minimization of the total potential energy provide the discrete solution e…
