Calculation of theO(? s 2 ) parity-violating structure functions in $$e^ + e^ - \to q\bar qg$$

We calculate the two nonvanishingO(αs2) parity-violating structure functions that contribute to\(e^ + e^ - \xrightarrow{{\gamma ,Z}}q\bar qg\). We discuss how these can be measured. We work with massless quarks and gluons and use dimensional regularization to regularize ultra-violet and infrared singularities. We carefully discuss how to deal withγ5 in the dimensional regularization scheme when infrared singularities are present.

Production of orbitally excited charm mesons in semileptonic B decays

A sample of 3.6 million hadronic Z decays recorded between 1991 and 1995 with the ALEPH detector at LEP is used to investigate semileptonic decays of B mesons into final states involving orbitally excited charm mesons. Topological vertex criteria are used to search for decays involving narrow D** states as well as wide D** resonances and non-resonant D(*)pi final states. The sum of the branching ratios for these processes is measured to be Br((B) over bar --> D pi l(-)(v) over bar) + Br((B) over bar --> D*pi l(-)(v) over bar) = (2.26 +/-t 0.29(stat) +/- 0.33(syst))%, which accounts for a significant fraction of the deficit between inclusive measurements and the sum of exclusive semileptonic…

AN INVESTIGATION INTO INTERMITTENCY

The results of an investigation based on ALEPH data, e+ e- --> hadrons at square-root s = 91 GeV, into fluctuations in rapidity space are presented. It is found that the behaviour of the factorial moments is well represented by the Lund parton shower model. An estimate is made of the scale of fluctuations needed to describe the data. Differential moments are introduced and are used to demonstrate that within the average represented by the traditional factorial moments the pattern of fluctu10.1007/BF01483869ations is itself a strong function of rapidity. Search for the DecayB+→K+νν¯

We search for the rare flavor-changing neutral-current decay ${B}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}^{+}\ensuremath{\nu}\overline{\ensuremath{\nu}}$ in a data sample of $82\text{ }\text{ }{\mathrm{fb}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II $B$-factory. Signal events are selected by examining the properties of the system recoiling against either a reconstructed hadronic or semileptonic charged-$B$ decay. Using these two independent samples we obtain a combined limit of $\mathcal{B}({B}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}^{+}\ensuremath{\nu}\overline{\ensuremath{\nu}})l5.2\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}5}$ at the 90% confidence level. Study of the process e+e−→ϕη at center-of-mass energies between 2.00 and 3.08 GeV

We study the process e^+e^− → π^+π^−ηγ, where the photon is radiated from the initial state. About 8000 fully reconstructed events of this process are selected from the BABAR data sample with an integrated luminosity of 469  fb^(-1). Using the π^+π^−η invariant mass spectrum, we measure the e^+e^− → π^+π^−η cross section in the e^+e^− center-of-mass energy range from 1.15 to 3.5 GeV. The cross section is well described by the Vector-Meson dominance model with four ρ-like states. We observe 49±9 events of the J/ψ decay to π^+π^−η and measure the product Γ_(J/Ψ → e^+e^−)B_(J/Ψ → π^+π^−η) = 2.34 ± 0.43_(stat) ± 0.16_(syst)  eV.

Inclusive production of neutral pions in hadronic Z decays

A measurement of the inclusive production of pi(0) mesons in hadronic Z decays is presented and compared to Monte Carlo model predictions. The analysis is based on approximately 2 million hadronic events recorded with the ALEPH detector at LEP at a centre-of-mass energy of root s = 91.2 GeV. Neutral pions are reconstructed using photons measured in the electromagnetic calorimeter and photons from conversion pairs. The inclusive pi(0) momentum spectrum is measured in the range 0.025 < x(p) = p/p(beam) < 1. In this range the number of pi(0) per hadronic Z is found to be 4.80 +/- 0.07(stat) +/- 0.31(sys). Limit on theB0→ρ0ρ0Branching Fraction and Implications for the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa Angleα

The authors search for the decay B{sup 0} {yields} {rho}{sup 0}{rho}{sup 0} in a data sample of about 227 million {Upsilon}(4S) {yields} B{bar B} decays collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e{sup +}e{sup -} collider at SLAC. They find no significant signal and set an upper limit of 1.1 x 10{sup -6} at 90% CL on the branching fraction. As a result, the uncertainty due to penguin contributions on the CKM unitarity angle {alpha} measured in B {yields} {rho}{rho} decays is 11{sup o} at 68% CL.

Measurements ofCP-Violating Asymmetries inB0→Ks0π0Decays

The authors present measurements of CP-violating asymmetries in the decay B{sup 0} {yields} a{sub 1}{sup {+-}}(1260){pi}{sup {-+}} with a{sub 1}{sup {+-}}(1260) {yields} {pi}{sup {-+}}{pi}{sup {+-}}{pi}{sup {+-}}. The data sample corresponds to 384 x 10{sup 6} B{bar B} pairs collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric B-factory at SLAC. Measurement of the Michel parameters and the nu(tau) helicity in tau lepton decays

A measurement of the Michel parameters and the average $\nu_\tau$ helicity in $\tau$ lepton decays is described. The data was collected with the ALEPH detector at LEP during the years 1991 to 1995. A total integrated luminosity of 155\,$\text{pb}^{-1}$ is analysed. The Michel parameters $\rho_l$, $\xi_l$, $(\xi\delta)_l$ ($l=e,\mu$), and $\eta_\mu$ are determined for the leptonic deca ys, and the chirality parameters $\xi_\pi$, $\xi_\rho$, and $\xi_{a_1}$ for the hadronic final states. Non-leptonic decays of Charmed mesons into two Pseudoscalars

We examine the role of resonant coupled channel final state interactions (FSI), as well as weak annihilation and exchange contributions in explaining all the two body hadronic $D\rightarrow PP$ decay modes data. In the un-unitarized amplitudes we include modified Wilson coefficients with non-factorizable corrections as parameters. For the hadronic form factors, the z-series expansion method is used to get the $q^2$ dependence. The FSI effects are incorporated via a phenomenological approach with widths of resonances to various channels taken from observations where available, and others as additional parameters to be determined from fits of all the theoretical rates to the measured ones.
