Given the profusion of biotechnological applications of the nonaqueous use of lipases, we have evaluated the possibilities of exploiting the inherent advantages of high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) for a simple, rapid assay of lipase activity in reverse micellar media, as a convenient alternative to previously reported spectroscopic methods, using both a model system and esterification reaction, and different commercial lipases. The milestone definition of “Cardiac Function” has to be attributed to William Harvey, the discoverer of the circulation, who in 1628 stated: “The movement of the blood is constantly in a circle, and is brought about by the beat of the heart” [1, 2]. From a modern point of view, the main function of the heart is the delivery of oxygen to metabolizing tissues. Since oxygen delivery is dependent on (1) the oxygen-carrying capacity of blood, (2) the flow output from the heart, and (3) regional distribution of flow, then the heart is nowadays regarded as a pump with the function of supplying flow in blood vessels [2].

La amiodarona puede alterar la función tiroidea en un 15-20% de los pacientes que la toman, dando lugar a hipotiroidismo o hipertiroidismo. La sobrecarga de yodo y la toxicidad directa sobre el tiroides inducida por amiodarona pueden provocar hipertiroidismo. Describimos un caso de tirotoxicosis grave por amiodarona que se diagnosticó buscando la causa que descompensó la cardiopatía de base del paciente, condicionando ésta el pronóstico y el manejo terapéutico. AIMS: Recent studies have demonstrated the importance of chromatin remodelling via histone acetylation/deacetylation for the control of cardiac gene expression. Specific histone deacetylases (HDACs) can, in fact, play a positive or negative role in determining cardiac myocyte (CM) size. Here, we report on the effect on hypertrophy development of three inhibitors (HDACi) of class I HDACs. The first world judo Kata competition was held in October 2007 in Tokyo, Japan. The Nage no Kata was developed in 1884 and 1885 at the Kodokan. by Jigoro Kano, the founder of judo, who developed Kata to demonstrate the principles of judo and to provide a type of training which emphasized performing techniques under controlled setting. According to Kano, to fully develop judo skills, it is essential to involve both Randori and Kata techniques [1].
