Texture segmentation is one of the main tasks in image applications, specifically in remote sensing, where the objective is to segment high-resolution images of natural landscapes into different cover types. Often the focus is on the selection of discriminant textural features, and although these are really fundamental, there is another part of the process that is also influential, partitioning different homogeneous textures into groups. A methodology based on archetype analysis (AA) of the local textural measurements is proposed. Abstract The paper presents a methodological approach, called “BOttom-up Harmonized Energy-Environmental Models for Europe” (BOHEEME), that combines bottom-up modeling, energy dynamic simulation, and life cycle assessment for evaluating and comparing the energy and environmental effects of different renovation strategies of the residential EU building stocks, from micro to the macro level. Based on current research on ageing in organizations, this chapter focuses on ageing, its gendered nature, and its relations to what is valued in organizational settings in terms of careers and leadership. Stories about ageing are present in mythology, archetypes, and the societal collective unconsciousness, often followed by heroism and charismatic figures. Myths of ageing are manifold but may also represent a “Grand Story” of ageing, present for everyone as an ideal without gender or other dimensions. With a focus on Anthony Pagden, this section delves into the conquest of Americas, and explains how the manipulation of the concept of hospitality legitimated the subsequent dispossession of aboriginal lands. In part, this was because Spain colonized this continent as Rome did Europe, but, and most important, hospitality played a vital role subordinating the indigenous to European archetype, endorsing and granting legitimacy to Spain’s rule over this New World. In so doing, hospitality not only accompanied the ideological discourse of nationhood, but free transit became the touchstone of the West.
