Allo stato attuale delle ricerche le volte"tabicadas" costituiscono per la Sicilia e la Sardegna una scoperta recente, troppo episodici risultano oggi i casi conosciuti. Paradossalmente sono le fabbriche più precoci, tutte in Sicilia (torre di Pozzallo, castello di Butera, convento di Santa Maria di Gesù a Modica), quelle che presentano minori difficoltà storiografiche, poichè direttamente collegabili a committenti catalani e quindi a esperienze costruttive di importazione. L'edizione di questo libro nasce dall'esigenza di precisare e divulgare gli esiti del dibattito che, in occasione del quarto centenario dalla fondazione dei Quattro Canti, ha coinvolto studiosi italiani e stranieri. Waterfront e patrimonio militare: la base sottomarina di Saint-Nazaire

Isolated from its harbour by the submarine base built during World War II, Saint-Nazaire has added to its development over the last two decades, without referring to major European models. An important arts and tourist center has been built around the port zone, close to the German submarine base. The converted military structure, which is situated in an impressive public space, has been endowed with a new sense of identity. It stands out as the main element in the urban regeneration process, focusing on the cultural and tourist character of the programme and aiming to reinforce the relationship between the city and its port.

The Paper aims to contribute to reflection on the peculiarities of the cases of functional and morphological regeneration of the waterfront historic European cities. Habitat area and local habitat conditions outweigh fragmentation effects on insect communities in vineyards

Fragmentation of habitat, for example by intensive agricultural practices, can be detrimental to local biodiversity. However, it often remains unclear whether such biodiversity declines are caused by loss of habitat area or increased fragmentation, and how habitat quality factors into it. In our study system, vegetated vineyards are typically small, and isolated from one another, potentially limiting the distribution and dispersal of organisms.
