In this paper an enhanced decision-making strategy is presented for the detection of harmonic sources in power systems able to detect also which is the prevailing nature of the disturbance (nonlinearity or unbalance). It makes use of some simple indices, which are evaluated by means of the measurements of some nonactive power quantities, proposed by the authors and derived from the approach of the IEEE Std. 1459-2010. Nanorings driven by a laser field

We present the dynamics of an electron constrained over an 1D ring with radius of 0.142 nm driven by a laser field. The temporal evolution of the system is evaluated by a semi-analytical solution of the full quantum time dependent Schr¨odinger equation. In our calculation the gap energy between the ground and the first excited state of the nanoring is three times the photon energy laser (0.63 eV) and the laser intensity is 4·1014 W/cm2 . Our analysis is performed by considering different polarization states of the incident laser. Un frammento marmoreo raffigurante un serpente viene descritto e commentato per stabilirne il possibile significato nello specifico contesto dei bagni medievali, ma anche tenendo conto della varietà di rimandi che l'iimmagine del serpente ha assunto in età classica. A marble fragment of a snake is described and briefly discussed in order to establish its significance in the specific context of the medieval baths but also considering the polysemy of the iconography in the classical period.
Quasi Phase Matched UV Second Harmonic Generation in Lithium Tantalate soft PE Waveguides

We report on first experimental results on UltraViolet second-harmonic generation by first-order quasiphase-matching in a surface periodically poled proton exchanged Lithium Tantalate waveguide. We have achieved a good compatibility with alpha phase proton exchanged channel waveguides in Lithium Tantalate. We held the sample in a temperature controlled oven kept at a constant temperature of 250 °C, to reduce photorefractive damage. The pump source was a Ti-Sapphire laser with a tunability range of 700 - 980 nm and a 40-GHz linewidth. Continuous wave UV light at 365.4 nm was produced with a conversion efficiency of 6.6% W-1cm-2.
Ar Er3+ un Yb3+ aktivētu savienojumu uz Na0,5Bi0,5TiO3 bāzes, luminiscences intensitātes modulācija ar elektrisko lauku

Na0,5Bi0,5TiO3 tiek pētīts kā perspektīvs materiāls svinu saturošu segnetoelektrisko materiālu aizvietošanai, pateicoties tā strukturālajām izmaiņām temperatūras vai elektriskā lauka ietekmē, to var izmantot ar elektrisko lauku vadāmās ierīcēs. Darbā tika pētīta ar Er3+ un Yb3 aktivētu Na0.5Bi0.5TiO3 cieto šķīdumu augšup pārveidotās luminiscences intensitātes modulācija, un raksturoti tās iespējamie mehānismi. Paraugu sintēzei, apstrādei, raksturošanai un luminiscences intensitātes modulācijas eksperimentiem tika izmantotas LU Cietvielu fizikas institūtā pieejamās iekārtas.
