Konstytucyjne wartości u progu ery sztucznej inteligencji
2021

HIGH QUALITY TEXTURE MAPPING PROCESS AIMED AT THE OPTIMIZATION OF 3D STRUCTURED LIGHT MODELS
2019
Abstract. This article presents the evaluation of a pipeline to develop a high-quality texture mapping implementation which makes it possible to carry out a semantic high-quality 3D textured model. Due to geometric errors such as camera parameters or limited image resolution or varying environmental parameters, the calculation of a surface texture from 2D images could present several color errors. And, sometimes, it needs adjustments to the RGB or lightness information on a defined part of the texture. The texture mapping procedure is composed of mesh parameterization, mesh partitioning, mesh segmentation unwraps, UV map and projection of island, UV layout optimization, mesh packing and mes…
BIFOCAL PAIRS OF IMAGES FOR LOW-COST SURVEY IN CLOSE RANGE PHOTOGRAMMETRY
2019
Abstract. This paper present a method for close range photogrammetry based on an camera positioning scheme in which two cameras capture an equal portion of an object at the same scale, but have different focal lengths and camera-to-object distances. This scheme is alternative to the stereoscopic scheme and is associated with a system of equations which permits one to calculate first the relief displacement of points on a photograph and then their relief relative to a reference plane. The obtained relief and relief displacement values can be used to produce low-cost orthophotographs by using software for image processing, which doesn’t need to be dedicated, but has to provide measurement and…
ESTIMATION OF OCEANIC PARTICULATE ORGANIC CARBON WITH MACHINE LEARNING
2020
Understanding and quantifying ocean carbon sinks of the planet is of paramount relevance in the current scenario of global change. Particulate organic carbon (POC) is a key biogeochemical parameter that helps us characterize export processes of the ocean. Ocean color observations enable the estimation of bio-optical proxies of POC (i.e. particulate backscattering coefficient, bbp) in the surface layer of the ocean quasi-synoptically. In parallel, the Argo program distributes vertical profiles of the physical properties with a global coverage and a high spatio-temporal resolution. Merging satellite ocean color and Argo data using a neural networkbased method has already shown strong potentia…
UAS BASED TREE SPECIES IDENTIFICATION USING THE NOVEL FPI BASED HYPERSPECTRAL CAMERAS IN VISIBLE, NIR AND SWIR SPECTRAL RANGES
2016
Abstract. Unmanned airborne systems (UAS) based remote sensing offers flexible tool for environmental monitoring. Novel lightweight Fabry-Perot interferometer (FPI) based, frame format, hyperspectral imaging in the spectral range from 400 to 1600 nm was used for identifying different species of trees in a forest area. To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this was the first research where stereoscopic, hyperspectral VIS, NIR, SWIR data is collected for tree species identification using UAS. The first results of the analysis based on fusion of two FPI-based hyperspectral imagers and RGB camera showed that the novel FPI hyperspectral technology provided accurate geometric, radiometric and sp…
HYPERSPECTRAL REFLECTANCE SIGNATURES AND POINT CLOUDS FOR PRECISION AGRICULTURE BY LIGHT WEIGHT UAV IMAGING SYSTEM
2018
Abstract. The objective of this investigation was to study the use of a new type of a low-weight unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) imaging system in the precision agriculture. The system consists of a novel Fabry-Perot interferometer based hyperspectral camera and a high-resolution small-format consumer camera. The sensors provide stereoscopic imagery in a 2D frame-format and they both weigh less than 500 g. A processing chain was developed for the production of high density point clouds and hyperspectral reflectance image mosaics (reflectance signatures), which are used as inputs in the agricultural application. We demonstrate the use of this new technology in the biomass estimation process, w…
FROM SURVEY TO MODEL, AND RETURN. THE CASE OF THE PARMA BAPTISTERY
2019
Abstract. Although this is not always the common practice, the survey should be an essential preliminary stage to any operation of restoration, enhancement and promotion of cultural heritage. Today, various surveying techniques make it possible to collect large amounts of data quickly and to provide a complete three-dimensional representation of extremely complex artefacts. In fact, 3D models allow a much richer description than traditional 2D representations. However, these survey techniques (laser scanner and photogrammetry above all) necessarily imply that the data that must be elaborated during the processing phase increase dramatically. It is therefore essential to identify methods and…
SCAN-TO-BIM FOR THE MANAGEMENT OF HERITAGE BUILDINGS: THE CASE STUDY OF THE CASTLE OF MAREDOLCE (PALERMO, ITALY)
2020
Abstract. Conservation and preservation of heritage buildings require the knowledge and sharing of a great deal of data and information about buildings. Such information comes from the different disciplines involved in the restoration and maintenance processes. The integration and use of all this information in a single working environment is a key factor for the success of historical building conservation and management projects. Heritage (or Historic) Building Information Modelling (HBIM) is nowadays the most appropriate tool to collect and manage all data related to Architectural Heritage. The HBIM process requires an in-depth knowledge of the historical building that can be achieved usi…
A GAMING APPROACH FOR CULTURAL HERITAGE KNOWLEDGE AND DISSEMINATION
2019
Abstract. In these last years, video games have become one of the most popular entertainment for children/teenagers/adults thanks to their appealing and seductive features and, in this context, the Serious Games (SG) have become an important research field. The most popular SGs in Cultural Heritage (CH) used the historical building like scenario where the game is playing. In this paper we show the procedure to achieve a CH video game where the Cultural Heritage is the main actor and not the scenario of the game. Furthermore, the game is not a SG but an Action-Adventure Game (AAG) or Survival Game (SuG), in a largest heading it can be classified as Entertainment Games (EGs). The novelty of t…
