THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN WOMEN´S ARTISTIC GYMNASTICS TECHNICAL SKILL, PHYSICAL PERFORMANCE TEST RESULTS AND SUCCESS IN COMPETITIONS IN FINLAND

The aim of this study was to find out the potential of the Minoritest to identify the most likely talented gymnasts to join the national team pre-training group in Finland. The study examined the relationships between gymnasts´ (N=215, age 10–13) Minoritest results (2006–2010) and success in competitions after the Minoritests until the end of 2016. The competition results were also compared between the gymnasts who had participated in the test and a random number (N=180) of gymnasts who had not. The representation of the artist is generally that of a nonconformist, a lonely Bohemian eager to revolutionise the world from his studio. From this perspective, the traditional interpretation of art history is one of linear progress, spurred on by moments of innovation aiming at new states of conventionalism. This article shows how such a perspective has much to do with the philosophy of modern times, even though it doesn’t provide a satisfactory explanation of the meaning and development of art throughout the centuries, bound as they are instead to the necessity of convention with the values of society (or of its élite) rather than on wild individualism.

Tämän tutkielman tarkoituksena oli kartoittaa hyvän valmentajan ominaisuuksia ja suomalaisten telinevoimistelijatyttöjen tyytyväisyyttä valmentajiinsa. Lisäksi halusin selvittää, täyttivätkö voimistelijatyttöjen omat valmentajat heidän odotuksensa hyvästä, niin sanotusta unelmavalmentajasta. Tutkielman aineistonkeruu suoritettiin helmi-maaliskuussa 2013 sähköisellä kyselylomakkeella, johon saivat vastata aktiivisesti telinevoimistelua harrastavat, 10–15 -vuotiaat tytöt. The recent decision to convert the Benedictine Dormitory in Monreale into an exhibition site offers the opportunity to enjoy the whole monumental complex where the wonderful cloister is the core attraction. It is on this site that the Norman Cathedral stands, brightly decorated with golden mosaics. The new exhibition has gathered together the artworks from the ruined abbey of Santa Maria del Bosco in Calatamauro and added them to the artefacts already exhibited at the Diocesan Museum. The problem of artistic destruction and its reconstruction has been little studied. Using a microhistorical analysis method, we study the town of Lliria (Valencia) and its brotherhood of ?La Sang de Jesucrist? (had a great heritage from the 16th to the 19th centuries), and we also analyze how and why this destruction and reconstruction was generated during the context of the civil war. We use and combine different sources (public of the ?Causa General? and private of the ?Minute Books?) for this research, with the intention of specifying the analysis of this complex process. Il testo espone i primi risultati di una linea di ricerca volta a prendere in esame le attività di restauro poste in essere a Palermo a partire dall'unità d'Italia e fino alla II Guerra Mondiale. Tramite una ricerca archivistica svolta all'Archivio Centrale dello Stato di Roma, viene pubblicato ed esaminato criticamente per la prima volta l'inventario ottocentesco dei monumenti nazionali riferito alla città di Palermo. Si propone anche un esempio pratico di restauro attuato in città nei primi tre decenni del Novecento per verificare la pratica effettiva del restauro da parte degli organi di tutela locali e ministeriali.
The Concept of the Oceanic Feeling in Artistic Creativity and in the Analysis of Visual Artworks

For several decades now, psychoanalytically oriented writers on art have used the concept of the oceanic feeling to designate feelings of oneness, limitlessness, and mania in artistic creativity and aesthetic experiencing. In this article, I examine critically the most influential account of the oceanic feeling in aesthetics, provided by art pedagogue and art critic Anton Ehrenzweig. Following his points of emphasis, I elaborate on the structural, perceptual, and affective aspects of oceanic states of mind.
