In vitro activities of antimicrobial agents against Candida species
1999
Objective. Antimicrobial mouthrinses may represent a valid alternative to topical antifungal agents. However, the action of antimicrobials could be affected by the different ingredients incorporated into mouthrinse products. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the in vitro antifungal and fungicidal activities of antimicrobials alone. Study Design. A broth macrodilution method was used to determine the minimum inhibitory concentration of 4 antimicrobial agents against Candida species. Minimum fungicidal concentration was also determined. Results. All antimicrobials showed antifungal activity against all tested organisms, but cetylpyridinium chloride received significantly low…
Rash and multiorgan dysfunction following lamotrigine: could genetic be involved?
2015
We report the case of a 38-year-old woman treated with lamotrigine who experienced multi-organ dysfunction. The patient received the drug at the dose of 100 mg per day. One week later, the treatment was suspended because of an extensive body rash. Twenty-four hours later, the patient appeared drowsy and stuporous and was hospitalized. On the fifth day, the patient was admitted with a clinical picture of acute multi-organ failure in our Institute, where, she, despite the support of vital functions with vasoactive drugs, continuous hemofiltration and ventilation with oxygen, died. Serum lamotrigine concentration was measured 110 h after its last dose and the drug resulted to be still present …
Intramolecular charge transfer and dual fluorescence of 4-(dimethylamino)benzonitrile: ultrafast branching followed by a two-fold decay mechanism.
2011
International audience; In this contribution we present new experimental and theoretical results for the intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) reaction underlying the dual fluorescence of 4-(dimethylamino) benzonitrile ( DMABN), which indicate that the fully twisted ICT (TICT) state is responsible for the time-resolved transient absorption spectrum while a distinct partially twisted ICT (pTICT) structure is suggested for the fluorescent ICT state.
Preserving entanglement and nonlocality in solid-state qubits by dynamical decoupling
2014
In this paper we study how to preserve entanglement and nonlocality under dephasing produced by classical noise with large low-frequency components, as $1/f$ noise, by Dynamical Decoupling techniques. We first show that quantifiers of entanglement and nonlocality satisfy a closed relation valid for two independent qubits locally coupled to a generic environment under pure dephasing and starting from a general class of initial states. This result allows to assess the efficiency of pulse-based dynamical decoupling for protecting nonlocal quantum correlations between two qubits subject to pure-dephasing local random telegraph and $1/f$-noise. We investigate the efficiency of an "entanglement m…
Client orientation in fashion e-commerce: a comparative study
2020
[EN] E-business and especially e-commerce represents one of the most important ways of doing business in the current context. That is why, researchers are doing a great effort in studying how Business to Consumer platforms manage the relationship with their clients. Regarding the most important channels of connection between consumers and companies in online market, the websites and Apps, this study analyzes the way in which e-businesses present the information to their clients from a client-focused strategy point of view. The present study evaluates how two important e-commerce companies deal with this in such a competitive market as fashion and aims to state some success guidelines for fa…
Material…
Jalkalihasten sähköinen aktiivisuus ja reaktiovoimat joukkuevoimistelun harppa- ja rengashypyissä
2010
Takala, Henni 2010.
The value relevance of losses revisited: the importance of earnings aggregation
2011
Accepted version of an article published in the journal: Global Business and Economics Review. Also available from the publisher at: http://dx.doi.org/10.1504/GBER.2011.040728 Prior research has suggested that earnings explain a larger portion of the variation in stock returns when disaggregated into components. This study shows that the increase in explanatory power stems primarily from disaggregation of negative earnings. When accounting earnings are sufficiently disaggregated into items, there is no longer a statistical difference in the value relevance of positive and negative earnings. Thus, negative earnings are also useful to stock investors. The findings are attributed to earnings p…
How fair-value accounting can influence firm hedging
2012
Published version of an article in the journal: Review of Derivatives Research. Also available from the publisher at: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s11147-012-9084-y The potential influence of accounting regulations on hedging strategies and the use of financial derivatives is a research topic that has attracted little attention in both the finance and the accounting literature. However, recent surveys suggest that company hedging can be substantially influenced by the accounting for financial instruments. In this study, we illustrate not only why but also how the accounting regulations may affect hedging behavior. We find that under mark-to-market accounting, most firms concerned with earnings…
The Investment on Capital Market: From Target Price Valuation Models to Investor Final Decision
2018
The investments on capital market are more attractive nowadays considering the short-term potential earnings that this particular market can offer but also the opportunities generated by the new entry companies. The aim of the paper is to present different valuation models of share in order to identify/calculate a target price, on one hand, and to emphasize the impact of both internal and external information on price per share, on the other hand. The target price is an important instrument that drives, alongside with industry, financial, and risk analysis, the investment decision to buy, to hold, and to sell. The key issues in determining target price are equity analysis, cash flow forecas…
